Wat do ya'll think of Melody Elisabeth Anne
Wat are ya'lls thoughts on the name Kaley/Kailey/Kaylee/Caylee?? I have always liked the name (I named a doll Caelie when I was younger which at the time was how I wanted to spell it lol -- now i'd lean towards Kaley/Kaylee most likey) but a family friend's daughter had a baby a few yrs ago and named her Kaylee && she died at 5mons from SIDS. A lot of the ppl in that circle would assume I was just naming my baby Kaley/Kailey/Kaylee/Caylee only bc she named her daughter that && they'd assume I was doing it to be a b!tch or something bc they dont think very highly of me..which obviously I wouldnt be bc it really was sad that her daughter died && all but I liked the name when I was a younger; long b4 she had her baby and all. I'm not afraid to name my kid(s) the same name(s) as someone who's passed or even after someone who's died (our future son will have my daddy's middle name as his 3rd name in honor of him && he's passed on)..I just dont want ppl to assume such horrible things about me when naming ur kid(s) shouldnt be a big deal..and you should be able to name whatever you want as long as it's within reason..

Date: 2013-01-27 04:08 am (UTC)Amelia and Melody are far more substantial than Kaylee. Kaylee could be a cute nickname for Katherine Lee/Leigh or something.

Date: 2013-01-27 06:02 am (UTC)I like the name Kayleigh spelled like this. Second choice would be Kailey. A few weeks back a girl named Kaylee posted in this comm about how she feels her name (I think the -ee in particular) makes her sound young/immature.
If the people in that circle don't think highly of you to begin with, don't waste your time thinking about their opinions of *your* child's name! You're going to be the one saying the name 5 million times in your life and you're probably going to lose touch with them soon anyway.

Date: 2013-01-27 01:37 pm (UTC)My best friend is Kaleigh, so I have positive associations. She's 27 and the name has aged well with her, but I do think it can sound young. It some spellings (Kaley/Caley/Caylee/etc) remind me of Caylee Anthony, and that's way too sad an association for me to ever use it, even if it was my style.
