[identity profile] ealexsism.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames

I've just rediscovered Party of Five and have fallen in love with pretty much all their names:

Parents Diana and Nicholas
Children: Charlie (m, presumably Charles), Bailey (m), Julia, Claudia, Owen

Is Bailey mostly a female name now?
And is Claudia underrated? DH and I were going to name our son Audrey had he been a girl, but I'm more tempted by Claudia these days.

We aren't trying for a second, but I like to day dream. #1 is Nolan Rustom (mn is family name)
My current faves for future kids:

Arthur
Arlo (just discovered this one)
Emmett
Avery (can this be for a boy anymore?)

Tabitha
Ruby
Vera (most likely mn as its a family name)
Audrey or Claudia
Sidney (f)

Thoughts or suggestions?

One of my friends has a little boy named Bailey. He's five now, I think. Somewhere around there. When she named him that I thought it was sort of weird, as it seems like it's more of a girl name these days, but now it just seems normal to me to be for a boy, as I've not really heard many other mentions of the name Bailey lately.

I don't dislike any of your name choices. Favorites would be Emmett for a boy, Audrey, Claudia and Sidney for girls (though I prefer Sydney if being used for a girl), I prefer Audrey over Claudia, but that's because Audrey's been on my long list forever. :D

I for some reason really like Arlo, I like how it sounds, and seems fun.

I like Avery on boys only.

I prefer Bailey for a boy, personally. :)

I know Avery swung towards girl for a while, but it's making a serious comeback for boys. I know a little 9 month old boy named Avery. Adrian is another one.. more and more people are using it for boys again.

I love the name Claudia, but the meaning isn't so great.

Sydney to me looks weird with an I instead of a Y.... don't know why. But when you see Sidonie or Sidonia, the I makes sense...

I think Avery is still a pretty unisex name; to me it still sounds more masculine than feminine. I like Arthur and Arlo too.

For girls, I like Audrey, Claudia, and Sydney.

I love Avery on a boy! It was on my list for DS3, but DH said it was too girly :p

I've only ever known girls named Bailey... I'm 28 FWIW and live in the north east. Maybe it's regional?

I've never seen Party of Five (I was in elementary school when it was on), but the parents' names are pretty much my two favorite names ever, and I love the kids' names, too, especially the youngest three. I love Claudia, and I agree that it's underrated and underused---it does mean "lame", but has such a wonderful sound.

Avery and Bailey are both unisex to me. I feel like I'm hearing about female Baileys less often, and the only one I've known is my own age (23).

I think all of your boy names would go really well with Nolan (my favorites are Arthur and Emmett, but Arlo is growing on me). Of the girls' names, Ruby, Vera, Audrey, and Claudia probably pair best with Nolan.

I love Claudia. I hate Bailey for either male or female. I also love Vera.
