I was delighted to hear that my SIL had just given birth to a son and that she had named him Miles. But, when I got to the hospital, I was surprised to see that she was spelling it Myles.

I don't dig the spelling; but, I think the name is nice enough. What do you think?

I don't dig the name at all, =(
Although, I absolutely adore the name Kyle... which is kinda close? ;)

I actually like it better. Takes away the association with the unit of measurement.

ditto to the comment above. my dad's best friend is myles.

I'm not one for alternative spellings, but I really don't mind the Myles spelling. It's actually kind of nice. And at least it's not Muheeylz! Gorgeous name.

Kyle would be even better if it wasn't as common as it is, =(

"I would walk 500 MILES and I would walk 500 more..." is the first thing that came to mind.

Myles is actually a pretty common spelling of Miles. It's not just a part of the 'replace all vowels with a Y!' trend. In fact, I've known multiple guys named Myles, none of which spelled it with an I.

I like it though, and I like it with the NN Milo or in this case, Mylo.

2005 rankings

Miles #210
Myles #310

So there is a difference, but I'd consider Myles to be pretty high up there as far as supposwdly 'creative' spellings are concerned.

i don't love the y, but i do like the name miles. i'd never use it myself, but i think it's an interesting name. :)

i thought miles was a tad odd the first time i ever heard it a few years ago, but the more i heard it the more i liked it. i wouldn't use it, but i like it none the less. the spelling really doesn't bother me any.

I've only ever seen it as MYLES, MILES is a unit of measurement, not a name.

i love the name miles (yay miles davis!), & the nickname milo is cool. myles is a pretty common spelling of it- i've seen it lots. congratulations on the new baby in the family!

that's what I was thinking.. that in this case the y is as common (not trendy) as the i.

i always thought miles as a person's name was spelled Myles, probably because everyone i've met named that spelled it that way.

I agree with everything you said. Good name, bad spelling.

As far as "misspellings" go, I don't mind it.
