Today I came across a young Irish Gypsy/Traveler girl and her daughter... who was named Montana. I just have no words. I can only assume she was a Hannah Montana fan?

i've seen that name used by irish travellers on big fat gypsy weddings, so it must be common in their community

Or they like the sound of it? I definitely think of the state long before Hannah Montana :\

Love your icon - Jacob and the Man in Black! I watched that video so many times. Might have to watch it again now.

I don't know. I think New Hampshire has a better ring to it. You could call the kid Hampie. Or Hammy.

Kansas also sounds good. Kansy would make a good nickname.

Montana isn't that uncommon, at least where I live. I know of plenty of girls named Montana who were born long before Miley Cyrus became famous. But maybe it's one of those names that's only popular in certain areas of the country.

The first Montana I ever saw/heard was on The Real World Boston LOL. That is who I always think of when I hear the name.
