I was watching the Today show (here in Australia) this morning, and there was a segment on Deputy Prime Minister Wayne Swan's daughter who sings in a rock band: Erinn Swan

WDYT? I actually don't mind it spelled that way, and I have always liked the name Erin.

I prefer Erin with one n, but it's not bad. And I kind of think swan would work as a middle name in some cases.

Overall, I prefer it as a male name (Aaron) exclusively though.

My best friend growing up was named Erinn. So I have a soft spot for that spelling. I like it better with 2 n's.

See I am the opposite. I hate Aaron and I hate that people think it is the same name as Erin (it is not) so I wish Aaron didn't exist. I also hate that boys sometimes end up being named Erin or girls Aaron because the parents think the name is interchangeable (Neither were supposed to be unisex, it is only the similar sound that made them so). It isn't even supposed to sound the same, although admittedly the sounds are very close.

Anyway Erin is on my short list. I do like it spelled with an extra n, but I don't think I would choose an alternate spelling because my hypothetical child named Erin is going to have to deal with enough people trying to spell it the boy way.

I bet you people who like the name Aaron for their boy feels the same way about it as I do and wish that Erin didn't exist. Lol!

Don't mind the spelling. I like Eryn as well. It's my name (just "Erin") and honestly, I kind of hate it. There are no nicknames for it and people think I'm saying "Anne" over the phone. Those are stupid reasons, but there they are (sorry mom, lol).

My name as well and I also hate it. I've always felt it was ugly abd was made fun of for having a "boy name" when I was young. Ironic how those same ppl are now naming their girls Dylan and Ryan etc

But Erin is a GIRLS name. The origin is from the GODDESS Ériu (which is who Ireland is named after). Anyone who thinks it is a boys name or even unisex just is very very misinformed. It only gets the male connotation because of the existence of Aaron. People are just not informed enough to know there is a big difference. Anyone naming a boy Erin is naming them a true female name after a goddess.
