Here's a sibset from the centre where  work. I've never met "Niall" and I'm not even sure that's how it's spelled but those are the spellings for the three younger children.

Niall (M) - 8

Nashoba (M) - 6

Niyanna (F) - 3

Nova-Anne (F) - 18 months

I was introduced to the older daughter first and spent an entire day thinking her name was Leanna, until a coworker corrected me. She was a very sweet little girl who for whatever reason (none of us are quite sure) became extremely attached to me even though I worked in a different room in the centre. Mom gave us a lot of trouble but because Niyanna liked me so much, I could usually suck up to mom and convince her to act like a reasonable person. It's because of that that I ended up getting to know the other children a bit.

For me Niall and Nova-Anna stand out as just not matching. I'm not a big fan of either Niyanna or Nashoba but at least they sort of seem like they go together. I like Nova on it's own and had mom not insisted on using her full name, I would have shortened it immediately. She joked about the N thing when I first met Nova-Anne. It was almost like she didn't take her children's names seriously... which was sort of concerning to me.

Is Niyanna pronounced like Nee-anna or like My-anna? I've always liked the name Nyanna for an adopted daughter, because I love the name Anna and she'd be My Anna with a little piece missing from the beginning (I draw my capital N's like big little n's so my M's are like to N's stuck together).
That being said, I'm not a fan of Nee-anna, or the other names.

I like the concept of "My-Anna" and your reasoning behind using the name Nyanna. Not really my style but that's just a personal taste thing.

Niall is at least a legitimate name. It's much more popular in the UK than US but I know one of the kiddos in One Direction is named Niall, and I read some book series as a teenager with a secondary character named Niall.

Her entire parenting style was awful. She'd let her children run around the entire neighbourhood unattended, didn't provide her children with what they needed for the day and she was horribly confrontational. As a bonus, she never leashed their dog and he would just wander around, often coming inside when she would pick up the children and we'd have to shoo him out.

The only reason I'm spelling it Niall is because of the guy from One Direction. It could be spelled Nile for all I know. I really don't have reference for it as a namel. It's not popular here at all and were it not for One Direction I wouldn't think it was a name at all. Also we're from neither the UK or the US, we're from Canada. :)
