My better half & I are planning to have a bun in the oven within the year, if it's a boy, we're dead set on the name Ernest Liam. Ernest because it's a family name, our son would be the fifth! But, he's going to go by Liam.

This is where I'm stuck...
If we have a girl, I really love the names Erin & Bailey... I really want the middle name to be Nicole, for two reasons. 1, I really love the name, & 2, it's his little sister's name, who I've become extremely close to.
So what I'm asking is,

In your opinion, which is better? ...

Bailey Nicole Carmichael
Or
Erin Nicole Carmichael

Thanks you guys, xo.
Much love,
Soleil ♥

I much, MUCH prefer Erin.

I'd name him Liam Ernest, though. I don't like when people name their child something and plan on using the MN. I see that it's because of the family tradition thing, but I still don't really.... understand it, I guess.

I love Erin Nicole.

Ernest is an awful name, no offense. I understand its meaning. :) Again, no offense, but thank God he's going to go by Liam.

Why not just name him Liam Ernest if he's just going to go by Liam anyway?

Agreed completely. I just don't get it. Irritating to me.

Oh, I understand. It's just a pet peeve of mine, I guess. Heh.

Ernest also makes me laugh a little, because I always want to say 'Ernesto!' when I see it. Family thing, haha.

If ever I have hated a name with an intense passion, Bailey is that name. Having said that, Erin is my obvious choice=)

I understand wanting to give your child the first name Ernest because of family tradition and calling him his middle name and I think that's a fine idea as long as you're comfortable with it. I, however, cant help but think of the advice my grandmother gave me. She is Rayma Jean, her twin is Ramona June. They've gone by Jean and June their entire lives. She said to me, "WHATEVER YOU DO! DO NOT give your child a first name you dont plan to call them." It's funny trying to figure out what name bills are under. Some are R. Jean, some are Rayma, some are Jean... to make it even more confusing, my grandpa was Edwin Leon and he went by Bill *grin*

I think everyone throwing a fit about naming him Ernest but calling him Liam needs to grow up. He's your baby and you can call him what you like, plus Ernest is obviously really important in your family, and if it's worked out for five generations why wouldn't it now? If when he grows up he wants to be Ernest he'll be able to be, but if he wants to stay Liam that's no big deal.

On that note, Erin for a girl because it's my name!

Erin. Erin Erin Erin.

Bailey is so trendy and annoying these days. Erin is more classy and likely to stand the test of time.

One day, a son or daughter is going to break this tradition and his whole family is going to hate him or his wife for doing something so "awful" and mean. Then there will be this huge drama between the couple and the in-laws, and it will go down in history as a family full of resentment. I feel bad for that family already. Good thing it's not you. :) *evil grin*

I like Erin Nicole, although it sounds quite 80s to me.

Definitely Erin Nicole. For one, I hate the name Bailey...it seems like a boys' name to me. Also, Erin is just so much prettier and it works well for a kid and also an adult, whereas Bailey just seems like it wouldn't fit an adult the same way.

Plus, it sounds like if you have a boy at any point in the future you'll be using the name Ernest Liam and I think Erin sounds much better with Liam. I don't know why, but it seems like the same style, and Bailey doesn't.

AND...I like Erin Nicole better. It has a nicer ring to it.

I like Bailey Nicole better, but I really like Erin more than Bailey. Bailey seems a little too trendy, I think Erin will hold up better over the years, especially when she's an adult.
