[identity profile] cremepuff.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
We're currently running a charity drive at my workplace. Every time someone donates, they can write their name (or their kids' names) on the donation card and we tape it to the wall for all to see. My manager had me put up about 60 of them yesterday, and I saw some interesting names.

N'kkhai, N'kkheya, N'kkhori, N'kkheira

Arly and Avery

Carlee and Rylee

Aleksey (like this!)

Will post more eventually!

Awful. Truly awful. Do these people want their poor children to be spelling their names for the rest of their lives???

I once had a roommate named Nikia and I'd always liked it, but N'kkeya is an atrocious butchering of it. I will never understand the apostrophe trend.

I like Aleksey a lot and I think that is technically an acceptable spelling of it, but I prefer the Alexei spelling.

I only like Avery.

Perhaps the first sibset are foreign? The names look African to me.

I like Avery.

Aleksey is ugly, it should just be Alexey or Alexei.

I completely agree.

Avery is good. I love aleksey in any spelling and that really is the most accurate pronunciation.

If only LiveJournal had a like button, I would hit it so hard right now.

According to my Russian teacher, though, Aleksey is the closest pronunciation wise to the intent of the name. So at least there's a reason behind it.

I used to love the name Alexei but it reminds me of a psycho ex-boyfriend so now I hate it :/

I don't mind Avery or Rylee (though I'm not a huge fan of the spelling on Rylee) but Aleksey just make me cringe. I really like "Alexi" as a name, but aleksey? No.

Those first four are beyond horrifying. :O

It's a sad, sad, sad day when Carlee and Rylee are the good names in a list. ::shudders::

The first four are ATROCIOUS. *shudder*

I kinda like Avery, and Alexei but not that spelling.
