So, I have never read Twilight...never seen the movies...

When Renesmee hit the nameosphere I always pronounced it like Rene Esme. I JUST found out its pronounced Ruh-nez-may.

So, in honor of my cluelessness I issue a challenge! cram two names together (like Ruh-nez-may) and make a nicer name than Renesmee lol.

PS I have to say, I prefer Rene(e) Esme to Renesmee.

I never intended to use them, but I used to smush family names together to create new ones. For example, my mom would be Donnean (prn. don-een, Donna Jean), which I always thought had a kind of Celtic sound to it. I could never decide if that would be a masculine or feminine name. From my dad, I got Kevilynn (kev-ih-lynn, Kevin Lynn), which would obviously be feminine. My one brother is Eriton (air-ih-ton, Eric Clayton), but I could never come up with anything decent from my older brother's name. Mine actually makes a name - Lauren Marie = Laurie.

In high school I met a toddler named Makath (mah-KATH). Her mum's name was Katherine, so I assume her dad's name started with Ma. I never liked it much, so I did LOVE the name Katherine, and I still like Katherine very much.

Thanks! I guess it could be pronounced differently, depending on whether you saw it as a combo of Elizabeth and Isabelle or Eliza and Isabelle (I initially was thinking of the former.)

I had a friend in highschool named Victor whose name was actually from Victoria (his mom) and Hector (his dad).

BTW- I had that problem with Renesmee... I still pronounce it as Wren-es-me

There's an actress named Marieh, which is a combination of her parents' names, Marie and Enrique, so it's pronounced like Mah-ree-ay.

The first one I could think of was Merelise, Meredith + Elise, pronounced Mare-uh-LEECE.

The following are combinations that I've seen in real life:

Jenilee (Jennifer + Lee)

Jessann (Jessica + Ann)

Jescelia (Jessica +Celia)

Melisha (Melissa + Alisha)

One of my college friends was once discussing children and said she wanted to combine her names, Allison Marie, into one name for her future daughter: Amarie, pronounced Ay-muh-REE, not uh-MAR-ee.

I once knew a girl who was named after her two grandfathers....Jonathon and Lee. Her name was Jonali. For quite awhile, that name was a top contender on my favorite girls name list. I also like Janessa, the combo of Jan and Vanessa.

A Filipino friend of mine is called Maricel - Maria Celeste, crammed into one word. It's only her nickname, though, not her actual name.

An actress in Marble Hornets, one of my favorite YouTube series, is named Jessalyn. Her mother's name was Jesse, her mother's was Lynne. The actress' full name is Jessalyn Rain May. In a hilarious bit of coincidence, her character's name? Jessica.

My Mandarin teacher last year was named Jinhai - golden and ocean combined into one word. If written a different way it can mean ceaseless lightning.

I've considered using Marita in honor of my grandmother Mary Rita.

My mom wanted to name my sister Marybeth after her mother (Mary Rita) and my stepdad's mother (Elizabeth).
