I did some digging as to why I'm so fascinated with names and about what my new last name means and how it relates to me. I figured there's no better place to share what I discovered about the topic than with a bunch of people who follow a naming community and most likely share the same interest in names that I do.

It's very well-written. I'm not a religious person, myself, but I would never deny someone else's importance in faith. I think it is wonderful that the man you chose to marry has a last name that you have truly taken as your own, and that it has meaning to you.

There's very little information available about my surname, as it's pretty uncommon. It kind of sucks to see stores that sell coats of arms, etc. and have nothing for your family. My mom's maiden name is pretty common so I usually look at that, but it's not entirely the same. My boyfriend's surname is about as common as my mom's maiden name, so it will be nice to take that as my last name. His last name is generally thought to mean "well born," or other similar sentiments, which most people would take to mean monetary wealth, but I think we are wealthy in having wonderful families.

Why, thank you :) and I'm glad you enjoyed it despite not sharing my faith. I always appreciate when people can see the beauty in differences.

It is cool, right? At first, I was kind of unexcited because his last name is so common and I'm just used to having a first and last name that you barely ever see, so I was afraid of losing originality...which I know realize is silly because common or not, it means a whole lot to me to take on his name, especially now that I see what it means.

I like that last name meaning :) And honestly, I didn't even think of wealth when I read that, I thought more of someone who has integrity and strength and a good heart.
