my husband threw me a curve ball the other nite when it came to a baby girl name (he said he knew i wouldn't say yes to it being our 1st daughter's name, but now i'm thinkin that i might reconsider our definite name and go with wat he threw out lol) anyway. our girl name has been Katelyn Elisabeth nn Katy Beth for months now..but the other nite he asked me wat i thought about Frances & i said, "i like it alright..maybe paired with Isabel.." and so begins my fretting over whether or not i wanna keep Katelyn Elisabeth as the front runner for any potential daughter or if i'm actually really likin Frances Isabel a lot now lol. i like nn on kids (idk maybe bc my daddy had a special nn for me) so i was thinkin we have nn possiblities with this name: Izzy, Belle, Francey, Fancy (my pick tbh), and i'm thinkin we might even be able to use Bella (i'm not a huge twilight fan, i'm just sayin..), or even Fancy Belle hahah..probably not, but i couldn't resist throwin that nn in there ;-)

so WDYT?
do ya'll like Frances Isabel?

we'll probably still end up naming our first daughter Katelyn Elisabeth, but i think we've settled on another name we both of us really love :)

I like Frances Isabel a lot (I'd personally use Isabel Frances, but they're two great names). Katy Beth seems a bit too cutesy to me, even as a nickname. Maybe you shouldn't be so set on a nickname before you meet the kid? Most people I know who have nicknames came by them somewhat spontaneously.

ETA: A lot of the time, having a double-name (even as a nickname) leads to correcting people quite often.

I like Frances Isabel quite a bit. In terms of nicknames, I think Frankie as a nn for Frances on a girl is cute. Frankie Belle maybe? If you wanted a two name nn like you had with Katy Beth.

I like Frankie Belle, it's girly without being sugary sweet, you know?

I adore Frances, but I love the nicknames Fran and Franny. Isabel is a nice, feminine name to pair with it.

I like Frances Isabel a lot. Francie Nolan from A Tree Grows in Brooklyn is one of my favorite literary characters of all time, so I'm partial to that nn.

I like it a lot better than Katelyn Elisabeth but the c's and s's really do make it a bit awkward to stay.

I like Frances isabel better than katelyn Elizabeth. I do like the name Caitlyn but not with the K spelling.

I agree, I would use Isabel Frances rather than Frances Isabel.

I like Katelyn Elizabeth better. I have known too many old lady Frances', makes it seem stuffy to me.

I've never liked Frances too much, but it's not horrible. It would probably grow on me if I knew someone with that name. I've always loved Francine though. haha

I love Isabel/Isobel, but I know a Frances I didn't particularly like XD I don't mind it just as a name because I think something like Frankie for a little girl is too cute :D

I agree. Isabel Frances. Because otherwise you've got the S sound too close together with both names. Makes it hard to say.

I *love* Frances Isabel. I think it's a gorgeous name that nobody else is rocking. I'm going to be completely honest here, I really don't love Katelyn at all (although I do love Elisabeth!). Katelyn/Caitlin just sounds so trendy to me. I prefer the much more simple Kate. I will also say that while Isabel Frances is cute, it's not nearly as awesome as Frances Isabel to me.

Seriously, I do not have enough praise for Frances Isabel!! Love it! I hope you go with this one!

My middle name is Frances and I've always hated it. Despised it to be more exact. FWIW, Isabel Frances does sound better to me, but it's not a name I'd ever chose for my child.

Even though it's kind of popular right now (you may not care about that) I like Katelyn Elisabeth better. I think Francis is kind of an old lady name. I agree with everyone that said Isabel Francis is cute.

I know a little girl named Frances and I often call her Francie, Francie Pants, or Francesca. I DO NOT like the nick name Fran so taht would be my only concern for this name.

I like Isabel but I do not like Frances at all. I actually do like Katelyn Elisabeth. Katy Beth is a little cutesy, but as others have suggested, wait for the kid to actually be here to see what nicknames work on her!
