names debate
Apr. 10th, 2012 08:53 pmme & my husband love to talk about potential baby names (but sometimes we do end up in an argument lol) mostly we argued over Lucas/Luke. i personally love the name & it has been my pick for any future son for yrs! but i gave in and said it was ok when my husband vetoed it several times!
rn we have our future son and daughter's names picked out: Robert Wilton (both family names, my husband's 1st name is Robert & Wilton is to honor my daddy) & Katelyn Elisabeth nn Katy Beth (i'm still unsure as to how i want to spell "Katelyn" tbh and i already kno how much this community hates the name, but it's something i'm set on naming my daughter & my husband agrees on the name, so that's all that matters lol)
now if we have a 2nd daughter we're considering either Jessy Harlee (possibly not spelled this way idk) or something with Ashley in it. i like Ashley ok, i just don't kno wat we'd choose to go with it lol. i like Ashley-Marie (insert middle name)
now, if we had a 2nd boy we already kno we want the initials J.D. we're pretty sure we want Jo(h)n but then James has been thrown around too. as far as wat the "D" initial would be, we've gone thru sum of the "D" names and we like a lot. at the top of our list is:
Donovan
Dixon
Darius
Damon/Daemyn (i like this spelling tbh)
Duncan
Declan
Dakota
Dean
Darren
Dalton
Dalyn "Day-Lyn" (we saw it at the cemetery my daddy is buried at & yeah i kno it's morbid but we both of us really liked it)
and i also like:
Derek
Dylan
Deacon
Dallas
so. any other "D" names that would go good with Jo(h)n, James, or even Jonathan (this was also discussed)
oh, wat do ya'll think of Jamison? my husband didn't really like it, but i think it's cute and is an alternative to James, since there are a lot of them on both sides of the family lol.

Date: 2012-04-11 01:20 am (UTC)Jessy Harlee doesn't seem feminine at all. I really dislike it. Ashley is okay. I actually prefer it for boys, but it sounds sort of dated on a girl.
From your list, I like:
James Donovan
Jonathan Dean
John Darren
James Dalton
Jonathan Derek
John Deacon
I like the spelling Jameson. I think it's cute. I used to know a little boy named Jameson, Jamey for short.

Date: 2012-04-11 01:33 am (UTC)I really dislike Jessy Harlee. Ashley is 10x better than either, IMO. Jessy seems like an incomplete name and Harlee is just... masculine and misspelled. And Jessy Harlee doesn't flow at all. The double -ee sound is awkward.
Out of the D names, I like:
Donovan
Duncan
Declan
Dean
Deacon
Some other D names: Desmond, Dexter, Dorian, Drake, David, Daniel, Dustin, Davis
I don't mind Jameson--but spelled that way. Jamison looks off to me. I do think of Jenna Jameson, which is either a good or bad thing!

Date: 2012-04-11 01:51 am (UTC)Of the "D" names you listed, I like Donovan, Darius, Duncan, Dean, Dalton, Derek, Dylan, Deacon, and Dallas. I'd add Daniel, David, and Damian/Damien to that list.
Possible combos with what you've got:
James Donovan
Jonathan Dean
James Duncan
John Dalton I actually had a professor named John Dalton.
Jonathan Dallas
John Deacon
John Duncan
James Dalton
John Darius
Jonathan Derek
John Dylan
Jameson is cute (I prefer that spelling, but whatever).
Jameson Dallas
Jameson Derek
Jameson Darius
Jameson Dylan

Date: 2012-04-11 03:19 am (UTC)From your D names I like Duncan, Declan, Dean, Derek, Dylan and Dallas. I really like place names (my son is named Vegas), so Dallas is a particular fave of that list. Duncan is a huge fave too.
Although, and this is just me, I'd avoid having N at the end of both names like John Duncan or John Dean etc. I just don't like the look of it. But that's IMO of course :) I do have a son named Nathaniel Paul, which has L's at the end (but we mostly call him Nate...), so ignore my absolute hypocrisy hehehe xD
And I love that you have Ashley-Marie as a potential name :D My name is Maya-Marie xD So woo for -Marie names!

Date: 2012-04-11 12:39 pm (UTC)At the most, Kaitlin, but if there's a y in there, it should only be at the end (Kaitlyn or Caitlyn)

Date: 2012-04-11 04:54 pm (UTC)I really like James and John better than Jamison or Jonathan, mainly because I tend to like shorter names for boys. I also think that James/John sound better with Robert and Kaitlyn.
Some of my favorite D names: Daniel, Darren, Darius (I am a huge Hootie and the Blowfish fan lol), David, Declan, Dylan.
