Ok!

I think I've written way too much in here on possible baby names/baby naming woes with our 4th boy child here that's due in May.

Well, now, for real, I think we've got it.  I'm a little unsure on spelling though.

So the name is:

Lucian Tyrael Mitchell
or
Lucien Tyrael Mitchell

I think I like it with the E better.  Tyrael is kind of a fictional archangel from a couple of online games.  I don't know why, maybe cuz we're somewhat gamers, but the names that always work for us seem to be names from games.  *shrug*  I like the idea of an archangel name with Lucian/Lucien also because everyone thinks the name is evil for some reason so, it just feels right to have an angel name in there to even it out.  If i was going for an authentic archangel name I would TOTALLY go with:

Lucian Gabriel Mitchell
or
Lucien Gabriel Mitchell

But I think we're going to stick with Tyrael.  (pronounced kind of like Material, minus the "ma")  Mitchell is the last name.  From what I've looked up, LuciEn is the french way to spell it, but the pronounciation in english and the way we'll pronounce it is Loo-Shen.  The french pronounce it Loo-see-ehn with a soft 'n' from what I've looked up.

What do u think?  On the name in general, the spelling, the gamer vs. authentic (we're not really religious at ALL though religions fascinate me).

I've apparently read too many Lindsay Sands novels and like the french spelling/pronunciation better. :) And also a fan of Gabriel. I think it sounds like a very strong name.

I prefer Lucian to Lucien, especially if you're sticking with Tyrael. I just think Lucian Tyrael looks better for some reason.

I didn't know that people thought it was an evil name, there is a Saint Lucian.

I think it doesn't matter that it's a made-up name since it's just the middle name, which never ever ever ever has to be used anywhere, ever.

I like it written Lucien and I pronounce it Lucy-en. I have never heard it said "Loosh-en," though I get why it could be, like, Marcia is prn Marsha.

Lucien Gabriel is just PERFECTION. Two of my favourite names that I would have never thought of putting together :D Granted I like Lucien for a girl [and probably pronounced Lu-see-en] :p

I do like Tyrael as well though, and if its a game thats close to your heart then I say why the hell not? :D Sounds like he'll have a lovely name whichever way you decide!

I really like Lucien/an, and (if I use it) would have a hard time choosing which spelling and which pronunciation to use, so I probably won't be much help! However when I see it as Lucian I tend to think of the "loo-see-en" pronunciation, while Lucien makes me hear "loo-Shen" but maybe that's just me.

Perhaps you want to choose based on how you want to pronounce the name?

I prefer Lucien because that's how we spell it here. You're right in French it's pronounced something like "Loo Seeyen"

Lucy-en is good as a pronunciation. If you go with Loo-shen, people are going to mispronounce it everywhere you go.

The first one is the English pronunciation. I've never heard anyone English pronounce it Loo-shen. I think that sounds more American.

The French pronunciation of Lucien (that can be heard here (http://fr.forvo.com/word/lucien/)) is probably impossible for a non-native speaker to imitate, but since you consider it a variation of spelling for Lucian, I guess it doesn't matter. Here (France and French speaking part of Belgium) it's the kind of old-fashioned name that might start to be used again soon. I like it. And Gabriel is one of my favorite names, so I like that middle name option better than the other one but of course it's your preference that matters.
