I'm reading The Edge of Light by Ann Shorey at the moment and the main character has a daughter named Luellen, but some of the characters call her Lulie for short. I think Lulie is so so cute, but I doubt it would age well. Are there any other names that could use Lulie as a nick name?

I would say mist "Lu..." names could use Lulie as a NN, my fave would be Lucille.

I think a very classic name could even work, like:

Louise
Louisa
Lucinda

Or some less classic, more off-beat ones (I love nicknames that are a bit random):

Laura
Lola
Lolita
Luna
Tallulah
Ophelia (not sure why this one but I like it a lot for Lulie)

My grandmother in law has a friend of hers who is known by "Tootie" to all of her friends. Dont' know where the name comes from as her actual name is Irene and not even close. But she likes it and apparently wants to be known by it. I have received gifts from her for my baby shower and my baby's baptism and both times she signed "Tootie" on the card.

I was just thinking of what you were saying about names aging and to me this lady is just Tootie, as funny as it sounds.

It's true, sometimes names that you wouldn't think age well work just fine for that person, I'd just want to give my little girl the option. I love all the suggestions though! Especially Luella.

I actually found a woman named Lula in my family tree who went by Lulie. That's a very old-fashioned name, though.

It's a bit of a stretch, but I think it would work for Lorelei or Loralie, too.
