[identity profile] being-lola-star.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames

Today I got the lovely surprise of discovering that a co-worker that I really don't get along with and I share similar taste in names. A third co-worker is having a baby (due in early May) and there are lots of jokes going around work about names and gender (the parents aren't finding out the gender). I found a list of names written completely seriously and am both amused and concerned by some of the choices.

All spellings are the way they were spelled on the list. No genders were provided, it was literally just on one big sticky note. I've highlighted the ones I like.

Quinn (Super cute for either gender.)
Emerson (I worked this summer with a little girl called this. Actually think it's a kind of neat name.
Jett
Carson (A girl I know from high school called her son this)
Everleigh (Never would have thought of it on my own but it's a really sweet little name)
Julian (Has always been one of my favourite boys names)
Kingston
Finley
Kian
Bennett (Bennett Halverson from Dollhouse, played by Summer Glau. Loved the character and the name so much I named one of my male rats this, I call him Ben or Benny)
Harlow (Guilty pleasure name. Would never call my child this because it's too close to harlot but I think it's a cute name)
Knox
Draydon
Kennedy (Would work for either gender but I prefer it for a girl.)
Landon
Danica
Piper (I once told my mom I liked this name and she told me I was crazy. I still like it.)
Levi (Always been weirdly fascinated by this name. It's kinda awesome.)
Nash
Kellan (I actually like this name. It's wonderfully masculine to me but I think that's because of who I associate it with.)
Luca (Worked with the sweetest baby called this a few years ago and though I never would have come up with it on my own, once I heard it I fell in love)
Morgan
Beckett
Lyndon
Natalie
Bowen
Nolan
Dylan
Brooklyn
Parker
Devon (I really like this as a boy's name. Had the biggest crush on a Devon in grade six. Would it be creepy to do that to my child? Also went to school with a girl called Devyn but that's kinda eh to me.)
Deacon
Rhys (I think it's really cute and love this spelling.)
Adalynn
Emmett
Rowan
Auden (Adorable, loved it in Sara Dessen's book Along For The Ride. Would use it as a girl's name.)
Bodhi (One of my absolute favourite names. I saw it is a documentary last winter and it's jut so pretty but wonderfully strong as well. Boy's name to me if you're wondering. It's apparently a type of fig tree and was the tree that Buddha found enlightenment under.)
Walker ( I like it but thanks to my appreciation for zombies and from the The Walking Dead, I will *NEVER* be able to call my child this)
Bryn
Griffin (Also worked with a little boy called this. He was precocious and SO smart and just a great little guy. Loved him and his name.)
Xander (Buffy fan. 'Nuff said.)
