Celebrities tend to name their kids some weird names. Sometimes, the names they pick sound like reasonable names,

Then there's the ones that go off the deep end, like:

Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha

I really like this name, It shows the Native American and Hawaiian culture, and reminder this is a first and two middle names, not four first names, they're not sayin "come here Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha!" lols.

I also like Zahara, Sparrow James, Elijah, Suri and Shiloh.

As for strange names, I dont think there really are any that I have on my list. I do like place and nature themed names though.

My understanding is that Banjo isn't terribly uncommon in Australia. A handful of babies a year are named Banjo, after the poet Banjo Paterson, who wrote "Waltzing Matilda." Since Banjo Patrick's mum is Australian, it might not be quite fair to say that she went off the deep end naming him.

I'm actually a HUGE fan of Poppy Honey and Daisy Boo, and I would definitely consider something like that if I didn't already have a hundred other choices for my future daughter/s. The rest are a bit out there for me--Sparrow was a real disappointment, as I love Harlow Winter Kate so much. I like Harper and Sabrina, though I'd never use them.

As for my own personal list, the 'weirdest' names I've got are Wednesday and October, but I'd probably never use them as a first name.

I actually like the names Angelina Jolie gave her kids---they're not common, but they're names (I love Vivienne).

Kal-El is crazy, but I probably wouldn't be above mixing some superhero's aliases into a child's name (like Hal Stewart or Oliver Bruce or Thor Parker or something).

I don't love a ton of "unusual" names. The oddest one might be Hugo or Axel.

I'm a fan of odd names and I'd love to be famous enough to name my child whatever the hell I wanted to. My current celebrity crush is Norman Reedus and his son is called Mingus Lucien Reedus. Part or the reason I want to marry him is so I can name my kids weird things. :) Really not a good judge of names though because my current favourite future children's names are Britain Atticus Maverick Foster (for a boy and that's three middle names) and Innogen Kyle (for a girl).

I know a little boy named Calel (not sure where they got this spelling from... if you're going to name him after Superman you might as well spell it accordingly)
One of my fave actresses is Poppy Montgomery from "Without a Trace" and I find her name pretty but a little much: Poppy Petal Emma Elizabeth Deveraux Donahue (Montgomery is her mother's maiden name). Because of that, I kind of grew to like the name Poppy, but maybe would use it as an alternative nickname to Philippa. (for the record, Poppy's sisters are: Rosie Thorn, Daisy Yellow, Lily Belle, and Marigold Sun; her brother is Jethro Tull)

I also kind of like Harlow(e) but it sounds very negative... harrowing, harlots, hallow... I have a lisp and I can't pronounce R's so that would be a bit difficult lol. As someone who has a ba in Latin, I would use names like Pax, Lux, Stella, etc...

I like that they really reflected Australian themes with Banjo and Adelaide. Clementine is a bit strange but at the same time fits with the other 2 names.

Knox and Harper have grown on me, but they're not ones I would use. Sparrow has actually grown on me too, but I'm not sure if I would use it for a boy or a girl. His first middle name James is on my list for a middle, but I'm guessing that's not really one of the odd/exotic names you wanted our opinions on. ;)

I don't have many odd names on my list anymore. I do have a number of Irish/Scottish names, many of which are unusual in the US, but they're all anglicized versions so they're not completely foreign seeming. I do like Mackenzie on boys only and would use the name without hesitation were I to have twin boys today. It's my #2 name with Callum being #1. So it's a little unusual in that I would be using Mackenzie on a boy rather than a girl as it is popular today.

Just as a side note, Andrea is actually a fairly popular boys' name in a few countries, like Italy. The most famous Andrea I know of is Andrea Bocelli, who is a male opera singer.

There are a lot of names that I like that my parents and boyfriend think are weird. Most of them are "nature" or noun names, like Briar,
Eden, Haven, Iris, Ivy, Meadow, Raine, Skye, and Willow. I wouldn't go Jamie Oliver and give my kids names like Poppy Honey Rosie, Daisy Boo Pamela, Petal Blossom Rainbow, and Buddy Bear Maurice, but I like Poppy, Daisy, and even Petal. I love the names of all the Jolie-Pitt kids.

I jokingly told my boyfriend we should name our first daughter Lily Willow, because we love both How I Met Your Mother and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and those are the names of Alyson Hannigan's characters. We both kind of like the combo but wouldn't do that to a kid.

I've lived in Australia since I was five and while I've met plenty of dogs and a few cats called Banjo, never another human. And I'm a high school teacher, I've come across some weeeeird names. "Banjo" Paterson was actually a nickname, he was Andrew Barton Paterson.

I do however think it isn't entirely off the deep end, certainly not in comparison to other celebs.

I find it funny how from one English speaking country to another there can still be such a difference in names that are considered "normal" versus "unusual". No one would blink at Lincoln over here, it's not top-100 but it'd definitely be top-200.
My son is Malachi nn Kai =) It was about as unusual as I was willing to go and I get a lot of "where did you find that?" comments (um, last book of the Old Testament...) but even in my small town there was another one born not long after mine.

I like my fair share of crazy names. I don't think it's a "only celebs like crazy names" thing, but I think they just recognize that if you're the kid of Nicolas Cage, you're not going to be an average kid anyway, so you don't need an average name. Most of these kids won't have to work in the real world, so they don't need real world names.
