[identity profile] schexyschteve.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
In addition to discovering how your personal tastes change month-to-month, I thought it might be kind of cool to see how the community's favorites change throughout the year. So when you post your favorites of the month, I'll go through and see which names appear on the most lists, and make a Top 5 for the community overall.

I'll try to post them a week after the original Top 5 post goes up, to give people enough time to get their lists in, and give me enough time to count them up.

One question: Would you prefer different spellings to count as different names (Nora and Norah would be separate entries), or should they be counted as the same (Aidan/Ayden/Aiden/Aydenn would all count under Aidan)? Obviously names like Lillian and Lily, or Jack and Jackson will count as separate.

I think the spelling variations should just be grouped to that name. So Aidan/Ayden/Aiden would be the same entry. :) Cute idea!

I think count them as the same when seeing how many there are, but have an asterisk or some note acknowledging the spelling variations.

I think the different spellings can all just count as one name. Close enough, I'd say! Plus, I'd want to know if one of my top names made the group's top 5, regardless of spelling.
