[identity profile] mrsbenglish.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
Hi there, It's been awhile :) Over 3 years ago I was here asking for ideas about my first daughter's name. Now we're expecting baby number two. I don't think we'll be finding out the sex of this babe so we're trying to make lists of names we like.

We're having a hard time with boy names in particular.

Our Daughter's name is Lilliana Elizabeth (I know, before, some of you said this was the wrong spelling, and redundant, but we like it so we stuck with it.)

For a girl, we're leaning heavily toward the name Margot Emily, but we have a small list of other girl names too:

Beatrix
Imogen
Penelope
Ivy
Evelyn

For boys:

Orin
Jude
Michai
Oscar
Jasper
Elliot

But none of these are really "THE ONE" for me. I like other names like Samuel, Simon, Maxwell, Henry, Theodore, and Asa, but all of these names are names of friend's or family's children.

What do you all think? Do you have any other ideas?

Oh my goodness, you and I have quite similar taste in names! Ivy and Penelope are on my girls' list and Jude and Orin are loosely on my boys' list (not high, but still there). Elliot would be on there, but we already have an Elysa and that's a little too cutesy for me.

Other names on my girls' list are Aria, Lydia, Astrid, Ramona, and Clara. Other names on my boys' list are Gideon, Griffin (or Gryffon), Lennon, Rhys, and Milo. :)

No suggestions, but I just wanted to say that Lilliana Elizabeth sounds perfect together (in my opinion)!

I love Samuel, Maxwell, Henry and Jude for boys. Those are all on my list!
Other names on my list for boys are Gabriel, Luke, Micah, Bennet, Everett, James and Harrison.

For girls I LOVE Margot Emily! I also like Beatrix.

How does one pronounce Rhys?

Like Reece/Reese. Rhys is actually the original spelling. :)

I have a friend on here with a son named Rhys. I actually REALLY like it, and it doesn't look like the peanut butter cup. *adds to short list*

Rhys Elliot sounds nice. :)

Lilliana Elizabeth is beautiful. What's wrong with the spelling? (I prefer it Liliana, but considering Lillian has 2 Ls in the middle, I don't see how the spelling could be considered "wrong").

The only other names I like on your list though are Penelope and Ivy. I'm not a fan of Imogen (always sounds like imaging or imagine to me), and I don't really care for the boys' names except for Elliot. Orin is interesting too.

Margot always makes me think of maggot, I just can't get it out of my head. Plus, around here it's a name for 50+ women, but you shouldn't let that stop you from using it :) Just saying since you wanted opinions :>

Lilliana Elizabeth is nice, though.

I like Imogen best from your girls list and Orin for a boy.

Aw, Lilliana Elizabeth is really pretty (it looks like there are at least 4 or 5 different possible spellings of Lil(l)ian(n)a, so you're good).

I really like Beatrix, Penelope, and Evelyn for girls, and Jude, Oscar, and Jasper for boys. Could you possibly use Samuel, Simon, Henry, Theodore, etc. as a middle name, like Oscar Henry or Jude Samuel?

Ha ha, I agree. Plus, the Reese spelling also reminds me of Reese Witherspoon, who I dislike. It's also the reason why I wouldn't use it for a girl.

Lilliana Elizabeth is SOOOO PRETTY ^____^

Evelyn and Penelope are on my kids names list so I approve highly of those two choices :D I really like Jasper too and my sister was going to be Elliot if she was a boy so I'm partial to that name too :)

I like shorter middle names with the longer first names. Penelope Ann is nice. I suck at middle names though. Most of the names I think up are always on their own :p

Oscar was what my 4 m/o would have been were she a boy. Orin is my dog's name, but he was named by a previous owner. I pretty much like all the names on your lists.

My mom says she doesn't like Micah because it's a "girl name", but i've only known boys named micah so to me it's a boy name. lol and on babynames.com it's only listed as a boy name.

Just butting in to say they'll get used to it :) I originally didn't like one of the names my sister chose for her little boy that's due in April but it's growing on me.

Her name is Esther, which has a very similar sound to Oscar, but I'd still like to use it if I have another boy some day. my other girls are Germaine and Ingrid, and my boys are Linus and Dietrich.
