[identity profile] danne-gerous.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
I have posted before about my friend and her stepson, Dresden Ash.

Well, now she is pregnant with her first child, a boy to be named Grayson Wulfgar Alexander, nn Wulfie (until he outgrows it, she says). She picked the first name, her SO picked the second, and Dresden picked the third.

WDYT? IMO, it's not my personal taste but it's alright.  It matches her and her SO's personalities and when I heard it, it just kind of fit them and their style.

For added fun, some people who commented on her status revealed their kids names.

2 Jacksons
2 Braydens
Marlee
Haven
Emma
Carter
Delaney
Parker
Nathan
Aidan
Kyle

I prefer Wolfgang to Wulfgar, but I guess I'm biased since I dated one for a year. But I kind of like it.

I've always really liked Dresden. Although I get the feeling it has connotations with it that I'm not aware of, like it's a city somewhere...

Grayson imo is getting too popular so I'm not a fan. Wulfgar or Wulfie or whatever is just immature. It sounds like it was thought up by a teenage boy who plays fantasy video games. Alexander is ok.

I went to elementary school with a boy named Wolfe (pronounced Wolf, but he was called Wolfie). I wonder what he is doing.

I really like Grayson.

I have always liked Parker & Nathan, but my husband does not.

Dresden is a city in Germany, famous for having been a non-military city which was firebombed in WWII. It's super famous bc author Kurt Vonnegut was a POW in Dresden and was one of the few survivors in the city. The fact that a kid is named Dresden Ash brings to mind the ruins of a bombed out city.

Dresden, Germany is also known for their beautiful and expensive China Doll factories.

This. Thisthisthisthisthis. :(

How about Hirochima Ash? Or Auschwitz Ash? That's what it's comparable to, really.

Oh no, that's awful! :( Dresden Ash is pretty grim. I think I'm gonna cross that one off the list... thanks for the info.

So, Dresden picked the most normal name out of that bunch? Nice.
