[identity profile] hermione-vader.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
Yesterday, I ended up going through my grandmother's senior yearbook (class of 1947) and my mother's (class of 1975), and I was amazed at how the names changed and stayed the same over the course of the 28-year period, especially since they both went to the same all-girls, Catholic high school (somewhat by coincidence).  I thought this community might be interested in it.

I'm really sorry about the lack of middle-name creativity.

ETA:  I'm also super-sorry about the length, but lately, my computer won't let me add a cut when I post to this comm.

Those middle names! It must have been boring to be a teacher back then.

Come to think of it, I don't know anyone with Marie as a first name but a thousand people with Marie as a middle.

My favorites:
older class- Shirley. I have always liked this name, possibly due to Shirley Temple.
newer class- Francesca and Civita.

interesting, thanks for sharing!

I think your grandma's names are coming back around in trend, so maybe our grandkids (for those of us w/ young kids) will have your mom's generation's names!

My mom and her sisters would fit in perfectly with these:
Kathleen Cecilia (b. 1941)
Patricia Ellen (b. 1946)
Claire Marguerite (b. 1950)
Ann Christine (my mom, b. 1953)
Janet Marie (b. 1956)

My aunt born in 1949 was Dolores Marie - she'd fit in there too. And my niece (born in 2005) is Mary Grace, she fits the old-is-new trend too. Also, lots of Patricias and Joans/Joannes.

I like:
1948 -
Alice
Patricia Lucille
Helen Alice
Joan Judge (not usually a fan of Joan, but I like this combo)
Dorothy Sue
Claire Joyce
Anne Ellen

1975:
Overall, much more variety in the 1975 group. I wonder if Marie/Mary as middle names is because it was a Catholic school, or because they were just so common. (or likely both)

I like -
Michele Elise
Jane Elizabeth
Laura
Susan
Beth
Laurie
Adria Leigh
Marion Adele
Victoria Rose (this is my favorite of the group)

Marguerite was my grandmother's name. My aunt Claire named her eldest daughter Marguerite Elizabeth (her other daughter is Jillian Claire).

Do you go by Mary or always Mary Grace? She's always MaryGrace never just Mary or Grace.
