My husband and I just found out we're having a girl. We've decided on the name Lucy. Which middle name do you prefer?

I think either Amelia or Isabelle. The fact they're more syllables than Lucy really works well :)

Contrary to everyone else so far I think Alice is the one that flows best with Lucy and your surname. I think if you had a one syllable surname I'd like the sound of Amelia or Isabelle better, but as it is Alice has a better rhythm to my ear.

I think, for the most part, a longer middle name sounds best with Lucy. But I think there is something so sweet about Lucy Alice. Although I think just saying "Lucy Alice" doesn't sound as good as "Lucy Alice Gilman", which is why I decided to include the surname.

I agree that three-syllable (or more...I think Lucy Elizabeth sounds really nice, but I don't like the name Elizabeth) names sound best with Lucy most often. There are a few shorter names that I like, though.

I think that Lucy Amelia doesn't flow very well. I feel like I need to pause in the middle of them or take a breath or something, though Amelia is one of my favourite names. I think either Lucy Violet or Lucy Scarlett works best because I'm not fond of the y then vowel sound. I do love all the names you posted though.

I LOVE the name Lucy! And I love most of your middle names too!
Oh, they all sound so nice! So I need to find reasons to eliminate.
Hmm, Lucy and Gilman are both 2 syllables, so rhythmically it would be better without a 2-syllable middle name.

I think I'm going to have to vote for Lucy Violet. I think it's for the prettiest "flow" and just sounds so pretty to boot! Amelia and Isabelle sound very nice too!

Love the name Amelia. Funny that people are saying that Alice is too short. My sister is a Lucy Claire. Other Lucys I know are Lucy Anne, Lucy May, Lucy Jane. Plenty of Lucys have short middle names.

You know, I was about to vote Lucy Scarlett first and then Lucy Isabelle second, but the more I repeated Lucy Amelia in my head (especially with the last name) it really grew on me, and I think it looks the prettiest written down. So Lucy Amelia is my favorite, with Scarlett and Isabelle right behind in the # 2 and # 3 positions :)
