[identity profile] ninoshikido.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames

Hi!

Just discover this comm via LJ Spotlight and I would like to ask your opinions guys.
I'm going to have a baby next April. Still don't know the gender though. But my husband and I already have some choices for name. (We are from Indonesia, and prefer not to use western names  =]  )

One of the choice is Lintang Azkaruni.
Lintang
(Javanese/traditional Indonesian) means star. While Azkaruni is an Azka and Karunia squished together. Azka (originally Aska, Arabic) means pure, we replace 's' with 'z' to lesser the crispness sound of it. And Karunia (Indonesian) means blessings.

By the sound of Lintang Azkaruni, what do you guys think? Is it a boy or a girl name? Or is it a unisex name?
Tell me wdyt guys..

And, I would like to ask for help too.
Could you suggest some squished or anagram names from RENI and MARRIO ??

Thanks~

To me, Azkaruni sounds female and Lintang is on the unisex/male side. But I'm not familiar with Indonesian (Eastern?) names-I have no idea if people from the Far East would agree my name, Nicole, sounds female or not. :/

Is squishing names an Indonesian tradition? I'm not a fan of squishing names with Western names.

Honestly, I think Azka is really pretty and sounds feminine without the "runi" part at the end.

I really have no idea because I am not familiar with Indonesian names, but the meanings are pretty!

From Reni and Marrio you can get Maren, which is a female name. Other than that, hm...Nero maybe?

I really love the name, especially it's meanings! I think it sounds more masculine, but I couldn't tell you why...

Lintang by itself sounds unisex, especially with "Lin" being a possible nickname.

Azkaruni sounds masculine to me but i don't know why haha Karunia sounds fem and Azka sounds masc.

I don't really know much about Thailand names so I can't help you out on that front but Lintang for me sounds girlier. Though that's probably because I know a girl named Ling-Tae. Anyway, squishing Reni and Marrio together? You could get Mani, Reno, Marni, Roi (Roy?), Neo...haha, good luck!

My stepmother and step siblings are Indonesian. Nuril and Dodi are their names, though I am sure they are shortened versions of their actual names if my step uncle's name is any indication!! (His first name is BossIlhosomelate)

I think that Lintang sounds unisex and you could shorten it to Lin. If I were to hear that name and know the meanings of the words, I would say girls name.

It looks more feminine than male or unisex, but if I was in a position to guess, I'd probably be wrong. LOL
