[identity profile] ashadelic.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
My husband and I were discussing some names over dinner and a new one crept into the conversation. For a little background before the name is dropped, my husband is a band director. His expertise is percussion and he absolutely loves everything that is music, from writing to playing to the history and what have you. The name that was discussed is Cadence Aria both music terms, Cadence: marks the end of a phrase in music or is a street beat for marching band. Aria: A solo in the middle of an opera.

wdty? Also.. what other middle names might you suggest for a girl named Cadence?

MAJOR EDIT/ADDITION PLEASE REREAD EVEN IF YOU'VE ALREADY POSTED:

In other news, I'd like to inquire as to what your top choices of nickname would be for Cadence. Cady/Katie/Kady/Cadie is out of the question. I like Cade (prn KAY-d) but I just wonder what other suggestions you guys might have, since you're so awesome at coming up with nicknames!

And finally, I'm not in to "sibsets" as I do believe that each child is his/her own person, I, however, dont want a Jessica, Jennifer, and Shaniqua either. I'd like them to at least be complimentary to each other. The boys name we adore is Elijah Malachi (prn MAL-uh-ki, not MAL-uh-key) both very strong Biblical names, and Elijah is considerably more popular than Cadence. Do these names mesh? They would take his greatest love (Cadence Aria) and OUR greatest love (Jesus/God/Christianity/the Bible) and be the best of both for us. Hmm.. I think I just convinced myself. =)

Oh, I love love love Cadence. Love it.

How do you pronounce Aria? Ah-ree-uh, or Air-ee-uh?

I like Aria, not so much Cadence.
Also it's very cool that these names have some much meaning for you and your husband, however two musical terms in one name is a bit much IMO.

I like the name Cadence, I think it's pretty! I agree with the poster above me though, I think two musical terms in one name is too much.

I like it as long as it's are-euh which is the only way I've ever heard it pronounced (but that could be wrong I suppose).

I don't think the music terms are too over the top to be used together and Cadence is a lovely name.

I think those names go well together (Cadence and Elijah)

Your boy names, while more common maybe, aren't actually used very often so I think they mesh well.

On Elijah Malachi:

I love Elijah, (Though I personally perfer Elisha, my daddy's name), and I LOVE love love Malachi. The names don't flow perfectly together, but I think they sound good enough together, considering importance of the meaning.

For Cadence, I personally would probably float back and forth between Cade and Cadie. I really like Cade, though. Maybe Cae/Cay? I can't think of any others aside from playing of the second half of the name, (Dencie? okay, no. lol)

I do like Aria and Cadence is okay but I'm just saying together it's alot. I don't really know much about music but I still know both of those names have to do with music.
Of course if you like it, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks
:)
If you do want to use them both at once I vfor Aria Cadence.

I really like the name Elijah.

Aria is ok, but I find it hard to think "name" rather than "song in an opera". I don't like Cadence at all as a name. Sorry.

Cadence and Aria are both on my list :)! Cadence is slipping due to popularity with me though :)!

I'm kind of musical, and I love Cadence. So pretty! Aria is pretty too, but I would only use it as a middle name. There aren't so many musical terms that make good names, but Cadence works. Only tiny thing I would say is that if she got into music, and met some musical kids that didn't like her, she might get called imperfect/ interrupted, but most kids aren;t that musically aware, so it's not really a big issue! it's pretty anyway!

I'm surprised that everyone seems to like Cadence. I think it sounds harsh and very un-feminine. Plus, it reminds me WAY too much of Caiden. Aria is really pretty, but combining it with Cadence is really hokey. =/

Cadence Aria is OKAY I guess... I mean it sounds pretty, but I don't know. What happens if she's into marching band or something? I think it'd sound pretty stupid if she was.

Just FYI, according to I think it was the baby name wizard?, Cadence (and Caydence, Kaydence, etc.) was the #1 growing name as of last year. As in it increased in popularity the most. Just something you might like to know, because it's possible it'll be in the top few names in a couple years. It is a nice name, though.

I love Aria, absolutely adore it. It's beautiful... Cadence doesnt havce such a nice meaning though, & it just makes me think of grade 8 singing exams & my rubbishness at recognising them!
