Saw a girl named Kaeeya (kuh-ee-yuh) while walking through the park today. It's an alternate spelling to the Greenlandic Qiiya, changed to make pronounciation easier. I'm not sure which spelling works for this name, but the little girl knows her name's origin and meaning and that's kind of cool for her. I didn't know that kind of thing as a young child. It's also good to keep heritage names alive, too. Still, I'm not sure if I like the name Kaeeya or not.

Thoughts?

Edited To Add: Saw her again in the park while walking my dog, with her full famly. Apparently she has a brother named Torluk (traditional Greenlandic spelling is Turluq) and a sister named Konnane (traditional spelling used). Their mother's name is Qinoq (pronounced kee-nok). The children are half Greenlandic/half Finnish, but it was important to the father that they keep the Greenlandic heritage alive. They all seemed like sweet people.

Thoughts on Torluk, Konnane and Kaeeya as a sibset? I really like Qinoq for some reason, too.
