Oxana and Ksenia sound pretty if I'm saying them right. Ekaterina is a name I've always kind of liked, mostly for the nn Katja, which I realize isn't the Russian form of the nn, but...it's the one I prefer.

They are some of the ones whose parents aren't from Russia, but the kids were born/raised there. Aychurok is a very beautiful girl, she appears to be Asian, but I'm not sure what country her parents are from originally.

I grew up in Rego Park in Queens, NY - Russian central! So I pretty much went to school and made friends with all of these names (save Aychurok and AmirJon). Yana was my bff in high school.
The only difference was a lot of them didn't use the letter X, so it was usually "Oksana", "Aleksandra/dr" and "Maksim"

Is that an American thing? Like when they move here, or their parents move here and have kids, they do away with the X as to save confusion in pronunciation? I only say that because I've met kids that were born here in the US, with Russian parents, who also use the "ks" in place of the "x."

Aychurok is Asian, and AmirJon appears to be Middle Eastern (that's solely based going on his looks). We have a a lot of Taiwanese and Thai students here this summer, too, so I'll admit it threw me for a loop that Aychurok came in speaking Russian lol

Ksenia says it like "Kah-sen-ee-ah"... I don't know if that's just so us Americans don't mess it up, or if that's how it is actually pronounced lol

No, it's a Russian thing, actually. When they choose to Americanize the name, they add the X. Otherwise they don't really use that letter.

with the Ksenias I've known it's like k'SEN-yah. There's no vowel sound between the K and the S, so you just make a k sound and follow it with senia.
