We were talking about the name Jamie at dinner the other day, and my mom mentioned that she liked the name Jamie as a nickname for James, and if I had been a boy, my name would have been James John (John after my dad). I mentioned they could also have used the nickname JJ.

I love love love Jamie (as a nn for James). I've liked it since I was a little kid to some degree or another, and the last few years I've loved it even more. It's at the top of our list for if we ever have a second boy. I also love the nn Jem, and would use that, too.

I don't like JJ, or any other initial nicknames usually. Not sure why.

i've always hated jamie as a boy's name. not sure why - probably because the vast majority of jamies i've met have all been female.

i like james, but the only nicknames i like for it are jim and jimmy.

I really love Jamie as a nickname. One of my favorite names is Benjamin, and I've thought about using Jamie as a nn for Benjamin.

I'm originally from the Midwest and never heard of Jamie as a nickname for James until I moved to the Southeast.

My nephews name is James and we call him Jamie/Jimmy interchangeably ... I think because my dad goes by Jim everyone has been leaning more towards Jamie because most of my dads family still calls him Jimmy (even though he is in his 50s!) ... poor baby Jimmy has been stuck being called Baby Jimmy or Jimmy Two - so I am glad that he looks like a Jamie.
