Someone I kind of know just had a baby girl. They named her Kateri. Not sure how this is pronounced or if it is an ethnic name? The husband is Chinese I believe. Big brother is named Xavier.
I've seen this name written before; I think it was in a yearbook. I always thought it was Greek, but the stuff I found about it just now says it was a name given to a Native American woman (as a form of Catherine) who became a Catholic saint. I assume it's pronounced Kuh-TARE-ee or Kuh-TEER-ee.
I went to school with a girl named Kateri. It was pronounced "Kuh-tier-ee". She was as WASPY as they come, so I don't associate it with an ethnicity. :-)
