From The Province:

David and Victoria Beckham have named their newborn daughter Harper Seven.

The soccer superstar - who wore a number seven shirt when he played for Manchester United and England – revealed the baby’s name in a posting on his Facebook page and said both mother and baby, who was born Sunday morning at Los Angeles' Cedars Sinai hospital, are “doing well.”

David Beckham – who already has three sons, Brooklyn, 12, Romeo, eight, and six-year-old Cruz, with Victoria - wrote: "I am so proud and excited to announce the birth of our daughter Harper Seven Beckham. She weighed a healthy 7lbs 10oz and arrived at 7.55 this morning, here in LA.

“Victoria is doing really well and her brothers are delighted to have a baby sister xx."

David and Victoria are thought to have chosen the name Harper – which is a popular moniker for both boys and girls in the U.S. - because of its "lovely sound," while Seven was decided upon due because it is considered a lucky digit.

A source in Los Angeles told The Sun newspaper: "The couple loved the name Harper. It has no hidden meaning - they just fell for the name and think it has a lovely sound.

"They went for Seven as a middle name as they think it is a lucky and spiritual number. And the baby arrived around 7 a.m. in July - the seventh month."

The name is NMS, but I like it a lot and think it fits them well.

Despite myself, I like it. Seven is NMS, but Harper Beckham is really cute.

Wasn't Seven what George wanted to name his kid on Seinfeld?

i kinda like Harper, but not so much Seven.

on a side note, Seven kinda makes me think of Seven of Nine on Star Trek: Voyager

I really, really dislike the name Harper. I've noticed it's been fairly well received in this community, but it's just a very ugly, harsh sounding name to me. Seven is nms and a little silly IMO, but also kinda cute.

This. I think I prefer Seven to Harper. I do not get the love for Harper.

I don't LOVE Harper, but I do think it's nice enough. It's just okay for me.

I actually don't mind Seven as a middle name as much as I thought I would. NOT for a first name, but honestly, as a middle? Don't mind it.

Maybe it's just me...but if I have ever a fourth baby and it's a girl, I would give her a girly name!!! After 3 boys, naming a daughter would be such a treat.

Harper Seven looks like "Steven Harper" to me and that's just not good.

I'm pretty surprised it's so well received as well. I'm not a fan of Harper AT ALL. It reminds me of a) harpoon and b) harping (like nagging). Overall, harsh and not very pretty or cute.

Harper is okay but I'm not so fond of Seven for a middle name.

I don't like Harper at all, either, for the same reasons as you.

I honestly was expecting a super feminine name from them. That being said, I think it fits their family. I am not a fan of Harper as a name in general, but it sounds nice with Beckham and the boys' names.
