not a baby, per se, but my fiance and i are thinking about getting a dog in the next few months and i'm obsessed so i'm already thinking of names! we want a golden retriever, i'd prefer a girl but we could get either who knows. he's giving me free reign over the name and i like to give pets human names that for one reason or another i wouldn't put on a child. my yorkie is named oliver, for reference.

the girl names i've come up with so far (in order of favorites) are margeaux, beatrix, stella, and zoey. for a boy i like henry, levi, and hunter.

opinions and suggestions please! i like all the names but idk if they really fit a golden retriever.

I like Beatrix and Stella, but I think names have to fit a personality of a dog...you might have to wait until you meet him!

I have a chocolate lab named Percy. Totally suits him, but would not fit any of his brothers that we met on the farm we got him from! Good luck! :)

i don't like Stella or Zoey for a Golden Retreiver they seem like smaller dog names, lol.
and to me levi is too human for a dog, if that makes sense, i think Henry and Hunter could both work :)

My golden retriever's name is Charlie, haha. Totally suits him, and the breed, i think! I also really like Jack for some reason.

I think Zoey would be really cute! The other girl names are pretty, but I don't know if they'd fit a golden retriever. For the boy names I think Henry or Levi would fit better than Hunter.

I think Phoebe would be pretty adorable on a golden retriever! Zoey is cute too but really common on pets. I really like Margeaux and Beatrix, too. Stella seems a little serious and elegant for a golden retriever, which I think of as sweet and energetic and fun. Other ideas: Millie, Wendy, Gretchen, Dorothy, Nellie, Abigail, Alice, Sally, Pippa, Ellen, Mabel, Esther, Hazel, Poppy, Gwendolen, Bridget, Bess, Lilac, Matilda, Janie, Regina

I do the same thing with pets, lol. My cat is named Dexter:)

I think Stella and Zoey and Hunter are my favorites, I could see those on a big golden retriever:)

I don't like Hunter for a dog... I'd totally judge you and be apprehensive to pet your dog if you named him Hunter. And i love dogs and am not apprehensive to pet them. You just never know how people are going to train their dogs.

Beatrix is adorable for a girl golden. Love that. Stella and Zoey seem like small dog names to me, if that makes sense.

I agree with the comments about Stella and Zoey sounding small. They're SUPER cute names, but I feel like dogs with those names should fit in a purse. Haha! Margeaux just doesn't make sense to me, on a dog.

I think Beatrix is adorable and could inspire a multitude of adorable nicknames! That gets my vote!

I am not a fan of any of the male dog names - Levi and Henry are far too human for me, and Hunter does make it sound like your dog might be aggressive.

I like Zoey, but I really hate that spelling. I'd just spell it Zoe and leave it at that.

It should end in a high note, otherwise the dog is less likely to answer to it.

I'd wait to see what the dog's personality is like, but I love Stella and Zoey, as they are my daughter's and corgi's names! =)
