[identity profile] sayfray.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
Two of my coworkers recently had babies, here are their names:

Zaylene Hokulani, Hokulani means heavenly star in Hawaiian. I have no clue where she got the name Zaylene.

And next is

Kaylie Kiyomi Kailani Ka'aumoana Hina'ea, yes she has five names which from what I am told 3 to 5 names before your last name is traditional in Hawaiian culture. The names usually make a sentence like 'child of my heart, blessed from heaven, a heavenly star.' Kiyomi is after the father's Japanese grandmother, Kailani means the sea and sky, Ka'aumoana means seafarer, Hina'ea means goddess of sunset. From what the mom told me the three Hawaiian names mean something like 'goddess of sunset who touches the seas and sky, dwells in the ocean'

That's just what she told me, I may be wrong on spellings or exact meanings but she is Hawaiian so I'm inclined to trust her. On licenses and such long Hawaiian names are shortened to initials, for example:

Smith, Kylie K K H
