I always liked Isabella...and then Twilight came out. Same with Jacob. Stupid Twilight.

I don't like Mia or Madison, very much, but otherwise I like the girl names for the most part. Last summer I had a dachshund named Olivia... *sniff* Still miss that dog.

As for the boy names... I like them all except Jayden. Yes, I even like Aidan, though that's because when I first came across the name in a baby name book in 2000, I thought it was interesting. I had no idea it was so popular until a couple of years ago, and it disappointed me.

The only ones on my list are William and Sophia, although Sophia is pretty low on the list, but I don't mind most of the names on there. I do dislike Jayden, which I see moved up a couple of spots, that spelling of Aidan, and Madison. I wonder if my cousin, who is naming her baby Khloe, realizes that Chloe is ranked number 9.

Very little change from last year. Noah's still in the top 10, damn it. :^/ I still have to decide if I'm willing to use it despite that.

Also, several names that I thought were going to continue rising did just that:

(name - 2009 rank - 2010 rank)

Adelaide - 568 - 434
Jasper - 337 - 286
Eden - 206 - 180
Levi - 85 - 70
Amelia - 55 - 41
Ezra - 258 - 243

I had a feeling Adelaide (which we're considering) would get a big jump, and it did!

I could swear these lists have been basically the same since 2001.

Heh. I don't know, in my family being named after a dog is considered a bit of an honor. *grins*

I think Aidan is a very nice name with a neat meaning. I wonder why/how it became popular all of a sudden though. And yeah, most of the rhyming names are ridiculous. And Jayden sounds like a girl name to me.

I hate Jayden so much, but I do like Aiden. The rest are all right.

I named my son Jasper and he was born at the end of 2010. Surprising to see it jump that much! It's still very uncommon though, I get a lot of "where did you come up with that?"

I've been hearing a LOT of buzz around the internet, as well as IRL (it's my sister's #1 boy name, and I have another friend who had it on her short list but went with Jonah). I think it's picking up steam and will probably land in the top 100 for a while.

I hate that Isabella is so popular. It's one of my favorite names.

Anyway, I like: Jacob, Ethan, William, Alexander, Noah, Aiden (only spelled Aidan), Isabella, Sophia, Emma, Olivia, Ava, and Emily.

I work in a library and my boss's son is named Jacob so everyone assumes it's after Twilight. She hates Twilight.

Considering that she's naming her kid after a Kardashian, I would think she likes it because it's popular? Totally not trying to be mean, but I immediately think Kardashian when I see "Kortney" or "Khloe."

Alexander, Olivia and Michael are on my list, and Emma's really grown on me lately. In saying that, I actually like the majority of these, except Isabella and Sophia. I can't stand either of them, but then I like Isobel and Sophie, so go figure.

What I enjoy most about these lists is that, for the most part, they're classic names, not a bunch of badly spelt variants or trendy names that really don't work on someone over the age of ten.

Yay my girls are still uncommon!! I have a Madeleine and a Moira. Madeleine is popular (but not spelled that way) in that it's in the top 100 usually, but that's ok. I have to go by the late 60's to find Moira, and even then it's in the 800 and 900's.

I'm not sure why they picked that spelling, and we're not close enough for me to ask. I'm trying to remember the one conversation we had about names because I almost think they didn't want something too popular. I'm pretty sure I told them about the SSA site...but yeah, I can see where people would make that association.

All our shortlisted boys' names were in the top 25 lol... good thing we're supposedly having a girl!

Our girls' name is ranked 275 at the moment yay.. although it doesn't mean anything since I don't live in the USA but it's still good.

As long as Ariadne stays off of the list, I don't care. Athena is, but I don't mind.
