What do you think of the name Devon?

Do you prefer it for a boy, a girl? Do you like a different spelling?

I personally love it for both boys and girls and that's the only spelling that I really like...Just curious to see what everybody else thinks.

I'm not a huge fan of it... but it's gotten better for me because my co-worker is Devon (a girl).

Devin = boy name
Devon = girl name

Why:
I went to school with a bazillion Devins, all boys and one of my favorite books has a female character named Devon.

really? Weird, to me it's the opposite. I knew girl Devins and boy Devons lol.

I like it for a boy, but the only one I know is Devan, so that's why I prefer it. Between Devin and Devon, I like Devon.

I actually don't like it at all. To me, it just sounds ugly and dated. I probably prefer it for girls, though. It's less ugly and dated on girls.

Devin for a boy. To me, I always want to emphasize the second syllable when I see it Devon, which is an entirely different name.

Neither, to me I think of a sandwich meat. In the eastern states of Australia is a meat called devon, so that is what it will always be to me :S

This.

Though if I had to choose, I would say I liked Devon most (out of Devin, Devan, Devon, Devyn etc) and would likely associate it with a male.

it's kind of nice...I think I've only known it used as Devin
but, I like that 'on' spelling

Honestly...I think of bulls lol...my favorite bull growing up on a farm, who used to give kisses was a Devon! His name was Sweet Cheeks ;) I don't havea picture of him on my computer, but this one looks like him (with a little darker face)

My dad always called him Devon because he was the only south devon on the farm, so that's what I think of! I know it's a human name, but it's always sounded weird on people to me!

I grew up with a girl named Devon, so that's the connotation for me.

Me too. Which is why I especially don't like it on a girl.... I hope that doesn't sound sexist lol but I guess I already see it as a boys' name, and the fact that it's a sandwich meat makes it even less appealing to cross over to a girls' name

I think I'm also put off by someone I know who has a Devin, Kevin, and Alvin

I think if I knew a cute little boy Devon I'd totally see past it and be fine with the name, but never for a girl.

Makes me think of Devon Sawa.

Male name. Devon is the spelling I prefer; I'm seeing Devan and Devin for the first time ever, in the comments here. They both look weird to me.

I've only ever seen it used for boys.

I know one Devon, and she's female.
All the males I've ever known with the name spell it Devin.

I also know a guy named Davone but he pronounces it "dah-VON".
