[identity profile] unaccepatable.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
The bottle company I use posted on Facebook asking if anyone's kids' names were in the top 100 baby names, and here are my favorite responses:

-My daughter is Madison which was super popular when she was born, but she is actually the only one in her class.

-Brooklyn is #30 but mine is BrooklynN ;) & Weston isn't on the list :D

-We have a Mason--but a girl, not a boy. =)

-NOPE!!!! But I didnt think my sons name would be on there and especially with his spelling Eryk!! :)

I wish more people had commented :(

....okay? My daughter is Emilie, which was the #1 name the year she was born (Emily.) She honestly is the only Emilie/Emily/etc. in her class. But we picked the name because we loved it...not so she could always be ~*~unique.~*~

I don't understand why people believe that spelling changes the name. If the teacher calls on Brooklyn in class, Brooklynn is going to answer, too. *rolls eyes* Same goes for Mason XX and Mason XY, all of the Aidans/Jadens/Haydens (who may all answer anyway because the names rhyme), etc. It doesn't make a difference, folks!

Which is to say, Brooklynn's mom shouldn't be so thrilled about the "unpopularity" of her daughter's name. I wish that SSN would combine the names like Name Nerds do, because the current set-up is misleading.

Oooooh I totally misread this. I thought YOU were posting that you had children named Madison, BrooklynN, Mason, and Eryk ;-)

I actually like the spelling Emilie better. I remember you mentioning once that you chose the French spelling, right? I love it, and I'm not usually wild about French names. I just think Emilie looks nice.

Thanks! We're both of French heritage so we liked that spelling. I fell in love with how the name looks when it's written out. Only problems we've had with it so far is that people at doctor's offices, teachers at school, etc. seem to want to spell it Emilee...but that's small potatoes. ;)
