After a lot of debate, my husband and I finally decided on names for our little one:

Lorelei Jane

or

Holden James

We'll find out next week whether we're having a boy or a girl. Anyway, I'm excited to finally have names picked out; especially two names that we both love. My top picks were Emmett and Evelyn, but he hated both. I'm happy with Lorelei and Holden, though!

Not to mention the fact that both names look beautiful in cursive. That brings up a fun question: Does the way a name looks written on paper affect how you feel about it?

Yes, both of my kids names had to look good in my handwriting before I chose them! :)

Great names!
No, because neither my husband or I have really pretty handwriting.

Definitely! I fell in love with my daughter's name, Emilie, at first because of the way it looks written out. :)

I like both of your name choices!

I really like the names you chose.
I think it would be nice to have a name that looks good in writing, but I have bad writing so it doesn't matter too much.

A little.

Mostly though, I use it (handwriting) to determine a preferred spelling... I like the name Sophia. I have no preference between Sophia and Sofia look-wise, but Sofia "feels" short, so ultimately I prefer Sophia.

OMG it never dawned on me to use cursive with my son's name to see how it would look. Course, I nearly never use cursive so perhaps that's why. LOL! Holden was on our list too. We ended up settling on Desmond. : )

If it isn't "fun" to write I don't like it. For example, my husbands name is Ryan and cursive capital R's are really a pain, so I wouldn't name my kid Ryan.

I like writing my name (Leslie) there is something really fun about cursive L's.

Love Lorelei Jane! I'm not a huge fan of Holden James but it has a nice ring to it.

Both are great choices!

The written look doesn't make or break a name for it, but I do love names that feel like they flow nicely in cursive.

I agree or veto names depending on how they look when I write them out. I will not agree until its written. Right now we're contemplating Abel, and I'm having an issue on how it looks in my handwriting. Declan looks so much cuter!

Holden James is actually what my sister is thinking of for her baby, and I love it. I adore Holden.

Funny, I have a friend who has daughters named Lorelei and Evelyn. Both names I think are quite pretty.

I like the names you have picked out! I wish I could say I had some picked. We just found out what we are having a few days ago so that helps to narrow down the choices. =)
