What are some opinions on Rosalyn? Sometimes I like it, sometimes I'm not sure. How would you pronounce it? Do you think the lyn makes it look "trendy"? Do you think it's one of those names she'd be constantly having to spell out? How do you like it overall? I'm just curious how others perceive this name.

I, personally, prefer it spelled Rosaline. I think it looks more elegant that way.

I pronounce it "roz-ah-lin"

I think nowadays you have to spell out pretty much any name. I wouldn't worry about that as much.

I think it's really pretty. I'm personally considering the name Rosalie, which is kinda similar.:)

I had a really good friend in high school named Rosaline. I prefer that spelling. The lyn seems kind of unnecessary to me and makes it look like it's one of those names trying to be ~*~unique~*~

My friend never had any problem with people mispronouncing it. Anyone who's familiar with Romeo and Juliet will probably know how to pronounce it, hopefully covering teachers.

But yeah, overall I think it's a very pretty name and I love that there's a literary character named Rosaline.

I would pronounce Rosalyn as "Roz-ah-lin" but Rosaline as "Rosa-Lin"

But I also pronounce Caroline and Carolyn differently.

She probably will be constantly having to spell it for people, but I don't know that there's any way to get around that with this name. I would pronounce Rosaline differently than Rosalyn (the former would be rose-a-line while the latter would be rosa-a-lynn) so I wouldn't use that. Honestly, I think Rosalyn is probably the best you can do.

I like the look of it, but I don't like the way it sounds (I've always heard it RAHZ-a-lin). It just sounds like a fifty-year-old secretary with a bad attitude. :) I don't think it would be too trendy or hard to spell-- it's not an unknown name by any means. She might occasionally get Rosalind, but it wouldn't be a constant problem. I much prefer Rosalie (ROSE-a-lee) or the much-underused-as-a-first-name Rose.

Or Rosemary!

I prefer Rosaline or Rosalind. But otherwise, I love it.

When I hear/see that name, all I can think of is the babysitter/nemesis from "Calvin and Hobbes".

I think Rosaline is much prettier and just classier. Rosalyn sounds a bit lower class somehow...

Hmm... How would you feel about Rose as the second part of the name? Like Anna Rose, Mary Rose, Jenna Rose, Sarah Rose, etc.

YES! Calvin's baby-sitter for the win!

My friend Rosaline (the reason I prefer this spelling) never had much of a problem with it. Occasionally people say "rose-a-line," but most pronounce it correctly.

I agree on Caroline and Carolyn, but for some reason I do not see that same distinction between Rosaline and Rosalyn. I never made the connection before.

I prefer Rosaline, or even Rosalind.
I don't really like it. It's almost "old lady" to me.

In English, I pronounce it ROZ-uh-lin. In Dutch, I pronounce it RO-sah-lin.
I like it. She may have to spell it out because it's sometimes spelled Rosalind...but that's not so bad. I have to spell out my name too, and I don't mind it at all.

I have this problem with my favorite girl name... I LOVE Emmaline (prn. em-ah-lynn), even though I'm worried people will pronounce it "em-ah-line", which I don't like as much. But I don't like it spelled Emmalyn/Emmalynn... although my little sister's middle name is Lynn and I could honor her with that spelling... lol so complicated! :-p

I really like Rosalyn, I think it's lovely! I'd pronounce it "roz-uh-lynn".
