I just saw this name on TV and I'm surprised because I really like it, even though it's not my style at all:

Alla(g)

It was pronounced like All-a not Ah-la.

All it's missing is one letter and it's Allah. I couldn't name my child after a religious figure.

I grew up with a girl named Alla. She was from white russia or something. She reminded me of the name Ella, which was so popular in Russia in the 1980-1982 birth years and we had a lot of Russian immigrants in my class. Like 3x Ella. Dont like both.

This. Especially not a religious figure to a religion I'm not a member of.

Where I'm from (south US), Allah is most commonly pronounced "All-ah," not "Ah-la."

This. Unless I'm reading the pronunciation of the name wrong that's pretty much how all (non-muslims) around here pronounce Allah (I'm in the UK)

Eh...it's unfortunately too close to Allah, which is (sadly) a negative thing to many people in the US.
