Those are good ones! I'm generally not a nickname person though, I prefer to use the full name even if it CAN be shortened. :P

My friend has a son named Augustus, nickname Gus, and I love it!

We almost used Charlotte so we could use "Charlie" as a nickname. I'm generally not a nickname kind of person.

I love Ike so Isaac appeals to me in that sense, but I wouldn't use it.

E/Immanuel = Manú

since it's the only name we agree on it would get used regardless of the nickname

Xavier -> Xavi
Javier -> Javi
Rafael -> Rafa
Gabriel -> Gabi

Those are the ones that really stand out to me. I love the nicknames more than I like the full names, but I wouldn't just name my kid Xavi, Javi, Rafa or Gabi.
I can't think of any girl names, though.

My name is Helena and I wished my nickname was Leni! People Here in the south tend to say my name as hel AY Nuh instead of hel E nuh so my nick name was Lana(Lay nuh) but when I would write it down people would say La nuh. I just couldn't win!

I think the only one that would fit would be Penny for Penelope, but I ALSO happen to like Penelope. I don't think there is any case where I like the nickname but not the full name, though there are plenty of nicknames I do like. The full name juts happens to be the priority though.

Ok wait, maybe Betty for Elizabeth as well. (But still, I also like Elizabeth, and most other nicknames for it too)

Clarification: Ellis as a girl's name. I like it as a boy too but if I had a son named Ellis I wouldn't call him Lelly.

I'm "meh" on the name Patrick but I adore the idea of having a little Patrick nicknamed Patch.

I actually love Penelope for the nickname "Penny."

And, as a contrast, I love the name "Margot" but do NOT like any of its nicknames, except maybe "Maggie."

I went crazy with quotations; not sure why. None of them were really necessary.

I wouldn't say I'd ever like a full name just because of a nn, but there are a few where the nns have contributed to how much I like the full name.

Virginia/Eugenia - Gin/Ginny, Gina
Anne - Nan/Nancy, Nanw
Euphemia - Effie, Eppie, Femie... awww, they're all so cute!
Agnes/Agatha - Aggie
Georgina - Nina
Olwen - Ollie, Winnie

James - Jem/Jemmy, Jamie

I'm really not a nickname type person; such as, for a lot of those listed, I would say they're solid first names and you'd be better to just name them that. But I always thought Moggie was a really awesome nickname for Margaret.
