Aida & Maxwell or Alma

My husband and I have a one year old daughter, named Aida. (Prn. Ade-uh)

We're expecting our second baby in May 2011.

If we have a boy he'll be Maxwell, if its a girl, Alma.

Also, we named our daughter after me. If we only have two kids, regardless if this next baby is a boy or girl, I want them to have my husbands first name as their middle name. Emery Lee (or Leigh for a girl). The problem I'm facing now is,.. what if we end up having a girl this time around and naming her after my husband and then later we happen to have a boy,.. I don't want my husband to wish that he had saved his name for a son,.. but what if we never have a boy? What would you do? I'm not sure if I'm explaining myself very well,.. but I think I did...

What about just using Leigh as a middle name for a girl, and then if you have a boy later you can use the Emery part?

I would just name the kids as they come. Use Lee/Leigh for this child, and then if you have another one, use Emery.

I don't think there is anything wrong with naming a second daughter Emery Leigh and then naming a future boy (if any) something different. Any number of children after the first two will presumably have names that are not yours or your husbands, so what's the big deal? :\

I can see your husband wishing the name had been saved for a son if you had a third child and it was a boy, but you don't know if you will have a third child or not and there's no guarantee that a third baby would be a boy. So, I think it's best to just use Emery Leigh if the child is a girl. It may be more disappointing if you don't use it and then don't have another child to use it on.
