What do you think of the name Miles?

I really love this name, and my husband likes it as well.

If we have a boy he would be joining big sister Aida (prn. ade-uh)

I LOVE it! It's getting popular, though. My son is named Miles and when I named him almost three years ago I had not met a single person named Miles. Now I come across boys (usually younger than him) named Miles all the freaking time.

I never liked the name Miles until I became an enormulous fan of the Miles Vorkosigan books. I'm still not overly fond of the name itself, but it has good associations now. :) It's one of those names that I don't particularly like, while knowing there's nothing whatsoever wrong with it, if that makes any sense. As far as going with Aida, it doesn't leap out at me as "great match!" but it doesn't leap out as an awful one, either.

I don't like the matching end sounds... especially as both names are so consonanty-sounding to begin with. Just say it aloud together a while and you'll maybe hear what I mean.

Saying that, it's not a BAD name or combination. But I find it subpar.

It makes me think: Miles and Maisie! Miles just reminds me of Macaulay Culkin's character in Uncle Buck (the younger sister's name was Maisie and the older sister was Tia).
