What do you all think of the name Molly? It's growing on me more and more everyday, but it seems like it's one of those names that wouldn't age well. I usually scoff at that - I grew up with a mom named Daisy, that everyone says they can't see aging well, so of course I'm a little biased in that area :p - but I'm honestly not too sure about Molly. I think it's adorable, though, but I can't picture a Dr. Molly, or anything like that. Hmm. I probably wouldn't use it anyway, because I have sooooo many girl's names that I like, but I was just wondering what you guys thought of it.

My wife liked it until her family told her it sounded like a fat kids name. I scoff at that idea, but just thought I'd throw that out there.

I'm indifferent. It's an okay name to me, but nothing spectacular.

i picture Molly, the daughter of a pedofile teacher. who is expelled from highschool and has to attend college, but sucks at that too. and drinks and does drugs. i also know a really nice girl named Molly. i feel like Molly is a "cutsy" name and either they'll carry out the cutsyness or they'll rebel against it if that makes sense...

I was very flabbergasted when I heard that. I had no idea such a thing even existed!

I don't think it ages very well; I always picture a (curly-haired) child... =/

Makes me think of Harry Potter's Molly Weasley, too.

Molly Ringwald is an older Molly. Not my choice of name, but I don't think ageing of it is a problem.

LOVE Molly. This baby would totally be a Molly if my cousin wasn't giving birth to a Molly next week! ;)

I like Molly...it is on the cutesy side, but I think it ages fine. I can picture a middle aged doctor or an elderly woman named Molly just as easily as a toddler Molly. It's more cheerful than childish to me, it's hard to imagine a depressed or violent Molly. I guess that's a good thing!

What about Molly as a nickname for Mary? That way, she can go by Mary when she grows up (if she so chooses).

I have a 9 year old cousin called Molly, which was fine when she was small, but she's already outgrowing it (she's tall and sturdy and not very girly at all). Then again, I went to uni with a Molly who was very elegant and feisty and the name totally suited her. Naming a baby anything is a bit of a gamble, because you can never tell how the name will sit with them throughout life. I think that the people closest to the person will just associate them with the name, so it doesn't matter if the outside world thinks it suits.

Seems to me like even if it sounds "cutesy" to your ears, it's one of those old fashioned, sweet sounding names that will age just fine, because it's classic and has (somewhat) already stood the test of time.

Wouldn't use it, but don't hate it! :)

My name is Molly. I like it fine - the only issue I have is when people tell me their dog is named Molly (there are a lot out there). I've never thought of it as cute-sy or not aging well like everyone's saying.

I actually can imagine it on someone of any age. But I don't like it.

Sorry I sent this too early...

What I meant to say is that I don't like it, not my style at all, but I think it is a decent nice sort of name for someone else to use. I wish I knew a sweet pleasant Molly as then it might grow on me lol but the only ones I've known haven't been nice.

I used to love the name, like really love it. Unfortunately all the Molly's I've met in person have been really mean or strange or both so now I have negative associations.

I don't think aging is a problem, and I still like the name but won't use it myself.

I have a problem with Molly only because I grew up with a girl named Molly who I'd rather not remember. However the name has started growing on me again. I think Molly is a bit classic and therefore ages better than say Bailey.

I love the name Molly. And FWIW, I know a woman in her mid-20's named Molly and I never thought the name was unfitting :)

I remember reading somewhere that Molly is the statistically whitest name given to baby girls in the USA right now — that is, compared to other names (and obviously there are exceptions, etc.), most likely to belong to a white baby than one of another race/ethnicity.

I find it too cutesy just on its own. It's not as ridiculous as, say, Gracie, and if I met an adult Molly I wouldn't think the name was ridiculous or anything, but it still seems like too much of a nickname to me.

My mother's name is Marian (after her mother) but has always gone by Mollie. She gets irritated when people write Molly but its so much more common a spelling that I can't blame the people. I do see Molly/Mollie aging well for the same reason you see Daisy aging well :P

A little while ago, I discovered a reason for me to like the name Molly, some association with it, but I can't remember it anymore. Anyway, as for the actual name, I think it sounds like a dog.

I have always loved the name Molly! and even though I know some Mollys, it's the only name I know people with and actually still find appealing!

I know a couple of Mollys my age (21). I think it fits them both well and I've known one since 4th grade, the other since 6th.

My sister's name is Molly and she's 17 and absolutely gorgeous... And I'm not saying that because I'm biased! ;)

I have a friend named Molly who is 21 and the name still suits her perfectly. She is the oldest Molly I know, though.
