So, I love the name Kahlan. Or alternate spellings (even though when you change the spelling the meaning changes) but if we ever have a girl, our last name starts with a G, and the only good middle names I can come up with start with an "e" and I don't really want her initials to spell KEG.

So, you lovely people have any middle name ideas that go well with Kahlan? and which spelling/meaning do you prefer?

Kahlan means "Strong Leader".
Kaelyn /Caelyn/Cailyn/Kailynn/Kaelynn/Caelynne means "meadow/waterfall pool"
Kaylin/Kaylyn/Kaylynn means "Slender"
Kailyn means "Pure"

I'm going to edit this entry to add that I got the name from Legend of the Seeker/Sword of Truth series and in those series' it is pronounced Kay-Lynn. And that I prefer the spelling of Kaelyn/Cailyn. I'm really more interested in knowing alternate middle names than debating upon how it's pronounced.

i would probably stay away from using the "kah" spelling for the first syllable.

kaylin and kaylynn are my favorites of your spelling options. i feel like kailyn, cailyn, and kailynn would be easily confused as kaitlyn (and its matching variants).

I thought that as well. I like Caelynn as the spelling. I just liked the meaning of Kahlan better I guess. If I choose Caelynn as the spelling I can also use the middle name that I liked. Which was Elizabeth.

Kahlin looks like Colin to me- I wouldn't think Kaylin and would have to be corrected.

Even though I like this meaning the least, I would go with Kaylin. Straight forward and least likely to be mispronounced, I think.

I read Kahlan as cal-ann. About 20 years ago I had a friend named Kailyn. She had the most unique name of anyone I knew at the time. Since knowing her, Kailyn has always been my favorite spelling. A friend of mine is pregnant right now and is naming the girl Kaylin.

Kahlan is pronounced Kay-lynn in the context that I know it from. AKA a book series/ TV series.

Meanings always complicate matters. I don't mean that in a "don't look at them way", but just that, it's not simply figuring out a spelling.

I agree, I like the meaning of Kahlan best, but spelling wise, I'd lean more toward Kaelyn, Kailynn or Kailyn. Though I could see the concern with people misreading it Kaitlyn, etc. However, the same could be said for any spelling of any name, most likely.

As for middle names, I'd lean towards Marie, May/Mae (I think this is a guilty pleasure middle name for me), Amber, Therese/Terese, Colleen (maybe that's because I have a friend named Kaitlyn Colleen), Rose.

Not a fan of Kahlan/Kaylin/Caelynn/etc. I knew one Kahlan, spelled Cailin. Her middle name was Catherine.
