I had a dream the other night that two friends were planning to name a future boy Charles Xavier, which I thought sounded great while dreaming and still sounded perfect when I woke up...until I realized why the combo sounded so right together--it's the name of Professor X from X-men!

There are a few names that have grown on me lately. I'm not in love with them and I doubt I would use them, but what do you think of Stanley, Louis/Lewis, and Hugo? Also, which spelling of Louis/Lewis do you prefer?

I think I prefer the Lewis spelling. With Louis, sometimes people will pronounce it in the French way, so if that's not your intention, you may wind up correcting people. And I personally like the name Stanley, but it's also a family name for me.

I had a dream one night that I had a baby but for some reason my mom took him away from me and I didn't see him until a year later (I must have been in some coma or something) and she named him Brayden Thomas and I was SOOO MAD. I was like "I'm sorry mom, but we are going to have to change his name." And I was like in the process of changing his first name. XD The Thomas part makes a lot of sense (I would have been named Thomas if I were a boy, after an uncle who died as a teenager). I wasn't planning on changing the Thomas middle name, just the first. I hate the name Brayden.

Anyway, your story reminded me of that! I like Charles Xavier but definitely reminds me of X-Men!

Louis/Lewis is my one of my favorite boy names. I would probably use it on a child if my fiance didn't hate it so much. I like Louis better with the nickname Louie. I work with a Louis who uses the traditional french pronunciation of "Loo-ee." I'm not as big of a fan of Stanley and Hugo.

i like xavier but not charles. :]

stanley makes me think of handsome men in classic movies, which is a good thing. louis/lewis i don't like but would be prefer 'louis' spelling.

hugo is a pretty nice name, and kind of unusual these days.

Hugo has always seemed like such an awesome name to me. Stanley unfortunately calls to mind a middle-aged, balding accountant, but Louis/Lewis isn't so bad. I'm actually torn on which spelling I prefer. Maybe Lewis, by a hair.

Haha, my favorite first name is Benjamin, and I was trying to come up with good combinations for it. I was like ... 'Hmm, Benjamin Parker sounds pretty good' until I realized why it did... I was obsessed with Sweeney Todd at the time and his name was Benjamin Barker xD
