I love the name Kaiden / Caden and I'm thinking of picking that- not sure yet- still have 34 weeks to figure it out! :) haha, just overly excited.

Well.. Bradley and Tyler are decent. If Katelynn was spelled Caitlin it would be ok too.

Kaiden/Caden and Kenzie are horrible in my opinion.

I'd advise against naming a girl Kaiden. IMO, it sounds fairly masculine, and I think a girl with that name would constantly be mistaken for a guy on paper. In any case, I'd go with the spelling Caden (http://www.behindthename.com/name/caden). It's the same name, but the spelling goes much farther than the tryndee Kaiden.

Kenzie sounds incomplete - why Kenzie and not McKenzie/MacKenzie? With McKenzie/MacKenzie you get the option of a cute nickname and a full name that works well in the professional world. She will be an adult for almost all of her life, and I think it is unfair to saddle a future doctor/lawyer/CEO/[insert serious-business professional here] with a childish name like Kenzie.

I simply do not like the way Katelynn is spelled. Caitlin (http://www.behindthename.com/name/caitlin) is the proper Anglicized form of the original and by far the one best suited for adult life IMO; in my eyes every other spelling is a headache.

I do not like the name McKenzie or Mackenzie- I dont like that at all. No one will judge her if she is a professional with the name Kenzie. I'm a paralegal with a family law and have been for the past 4 years. I know a lot of attorney's in the Jacksonville area and it's based on preformance not your name. haha. Just saying.

As for Caitlin. I've always hated that spelling however, love the name.

Also, Cadence is at #64 and Caden is at #4 on the most popular baby names list. So you would most likely find much more Caden's than Cadence's.

i really hate the spelling katelynn, probably because i hate the nick name Kate. my middle name is Kaitlyn... i think it looks a little better than Caitlin which i find pretty blah looking. and the name Kaiden kinda sucks... i think if i hear/see another i'm gonna freak!!

If you want something different, don't use Caden or any variation of it! When you combine Caden and the names it rhymes with together, it's by far the most common name out there right now. If you don't believe me, here's the proof. (http://www.namenerds.com/uucn/2009xy.html) Even Caden on its own is extremely popular. I would avoid Kenzie and Katelynn, too, they're also very common.

Of course, that doesn't necessarily matter, but if you want something different (like you said) Caden is about the worst choice out there.

I actually like Kenzie. I think it's cute. Kaiden/Caden is horrible. I have a friend who named her daughter Caden and it just doesn't feel right calling her that. It's too masculine no matter how you spell it.

Boys:
I like Tyler and think it would go well with Ethan. Caden is uber trendy while the other boy's names (including Ethan) are more classic.

Sorry, but everything is too trendy for me. I do like Caitlin, though, but not that spelling. Unless you're doing it that way to be Kate + Lynn on purpose, then it would be understandable.

yeah... in fact when they were hiring for my position (assistant to the CEO of a company) I literally heard her say this: "she seems good but I'd never have my clients leave me a message with someone named that!" and then in a mocking voice she'd say how ridiculous it'd sound for her clients (which were mostly international) saying 'oh did give you my message?'

Okay I've given my comments on the whole 'work and being named Kenzie' thing... but here's what I feel on each individual name.

Girls:
Kenzie - this is such a cute NICKNAME not a name.
Kaiden - you know you're not necessarily on the right track when Firefox underlines your name in red and well... to be honest Caden is already bad enough.
Katelynn - out of these this is the one I like the most. Sure, she'll have to correct people on the spelling forever but eh, not as bad as the two above. I am biased though because I don't even really like Caitlin but it's a true blue name.

Boys:

Caden - trendy, uh... not really a name to me, lacks a meaning but hey at least it's spelled Caden.
Bradley - not my cup of tea since I knew a puppy named this but that's very limited to me, it's cute.
Tyler - cute... you seem to have a thing for kind of ambiguous names and I like that myself.

If you want something different, stray faaaaaaar from Caden. I teach a Sunday School class for three-year-olds once a month and on any given day most of the boys have names rhyming with Aidan. One time we had two Cadens (I *think* one was Kaden and one was Caydon), a Jaydon, an Aidan, and a Treyden. I seriously can hardly keep the boys straight because their names are all so similar. If you just really like it and want to use it that's one thing, but don't try to trick yourself into thinking it's different, because it's not.

Bradley is nice and would be "different" in his peer group. Tyler goes well with Ethan but it's a little boring. I don't like any of the girls' names, sorry. (I am so sick of Caitlin et al because I always had at least one in every single class growing up, and I never knew how to spell it because everyone had a different spelling.)

Kenzie seems like a nickname and while I can imagine it on a child, I don't think it fits an adult very well.

Kenzie, Kaiden and Caden are all hideously trendy, and you can expect your children to have the same name/rhyming variant as most of their peers. For example, read this thread (http://community.livejournal.com/baby_names/5221042.html) about the number of children with -aiden names.

Kenzie sounds very cutesy and juvenile to me, Katelynn is okay despite the spelling, and Bradley and Tyler are nice.

I, for one, would never hire a lawyer with a cutesy/tryndee/childish name, no matter his or her performance. First impressions matter the most, especially in law, and if I can't get pass a cringe-worthy name on a business card, why should anybody else? There's Elle Woods, and then there's Kenzie Smith. If they had equal credentials and identical personalities, who would any self-preserving person go with?

Why can't Kenzie Smith have her business cards printed up as K. Smith? I think it's an unfortunate truth that people are judged on their names, but there's no need to take part in it; it's not like they picked their name! And changing your name (for reasons other than marriage) is quite a headache.

My husband has an unusual (though hippie, not "tryndee") name, and is always really frustrated by the first-impressions dilemma -- though in his case, it's because too many people have conventional given names and choose to go by silly hippie names like Rain and Wolf.

See, I don't mind hippie names. I definitely don't think they're in the same category as cutesy names like Kenzie. Rain/Wolf =/= Kenzie/Maddie

But people will be judged whether or not you yourself take part in it. I'm being realistic about the issue and I don't think that's a crime. It bears mentioning, and it's fair to weigh both sides of the issue.

I feel really really bad for all the kids being born now who will have the same name as like 10 kids in every one of their classes at school forever, and who will always have to be known as (whatever name) (Initials) because it's so hard to differentiate.

Katelynn is nice enough, but the others? They sound like throwaway names that you chose because they looked oh-so-cute on a little baby rather than names that were chosen because you thought they'd serve the child well later in life.

I agree with what someone said about going with Katherine Lynn with Katelynn as a nickname, because it'll give her OPTIONS to go by later in life.

If you like Kenzie, I agree also about finding a less... well, trend-tastic, given name and using it as a nickname. I think it's actually a really sweet nickname for any number of other things, but NGL if I knew you I'd judge the crap out of you for dooming your child to a cutesy nickname for the rest of their life just because YOU liked it. Remember that she might not think it's so cute.

While I think it's sad that people are judged by their names in the workplace as adults but that is the world we live in and you may not like it and it may not be fair, but it's the unfortunate truth. I know a boy named Edward Cullen whose job-hunt this year has been HELL because no one takes him seriously because of his name.

Give her options, give her a name that will serve HER and not just you. She'll love you for it, I promise.
