 Okay, newly preg with #2.
My 2 year old daughter is Penelope Abra.

We are throwing around ideas for girl's names (we have already decided on Ivan for a boy).

One of my faves is Vivian, and DH doesn't seem opposed to it. I had the idea to give a middle name that starts with A, so her initials would be V.A.N., which was my DH's grandpa's name, which would be kinda neat. Plus having A middle names for both girls would be kind of cute.
I am having trouble finding good'ns. I am thinking it has to be 2 syllables and most likely end in a vowel sound since it will be sandwiched between the final N on Vivian and the first N on Nicholas (our last name).

A few I have come up with, but none of these are exciting us too much:
Aila (eye-la)
Ayla (pronounced like it's spelled)
Ashbea
Anka

Nothing is flowing very well. It's all sounding so clunky.

Vivian A____ Nicholas.

WDYT?

The ONLY problem I can see with Vivian (which I love BTW) is that if you have a boy later and want to name him Ivan, Ivan and Vivian sound very similar to me.

Vivian Anya?

I see what you're saying.
I don't think Vivian Nicholas sounds clunky at all.

As a Melissa Elena A---- (so with or without the middle it's back-to-back A's), I don't think Vivian Nicholas will get mashed together. If it were soft sounds like S's, like Chris Smith, I think it would be worse.

I like the sound of Vivian Ashbea, though I think I like the look of Vivian Ashby more.

I love the name Ayla. Have you read the Earth's Children series? That gets my vote for sure.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned Audrey yet. I think Vivian Audrey sounds beautiful!

Vivian Aisling (Ash-linn) could also work.

*On second thought: maybe Aisling doesn't sound so great with Nicholas...anyway. Wanted to throw it out there!

I absolutely adore Vivian Ashbea. I think that is an awesome name!

Vivian Ashbea Nicholas.

Sounds like a lawyer or a psychiatrist. :)

Totally unrelated but I can't help but notice, your/that cat looks pissed! I love your icon :)

If I weren't married, I think I'd have at least 40 cats. Haha.

Not my cat, but I do have one! I also plan on having a bunch of them someday.

I think Vivian is a lovely name. Also like Viviene/Vivienne. I think Vivi is an adorable nickname.

I like Aila, but don't see how Ayla would be pronounced any differently (Aay-la?)

Ashby is okay, but the spelling 'Ashbea' makes me cringe.

I think Anka is too harsh for such a soft-sounding name.

Names I think might be pretty with Vivian/Viviene:

Abigail
Adelaide
Adeline
Adelle
Adair
Agatha
Aisling
Aislyn
Alessa
Amalie
Amethyst
Anastasia
Analiese
Annette
Annabelle
Aiobheanne
Ardith
Aveline

Guilty favorite 'A' name-- Antigone

My first thought was Vivian Anya Nicholas, though I didn't see Ana on anyone's list and I think it's such a pretty name, and about as short as you can get...unless you're going to name her that Gaelic boy's name pronounced 'Eee' (Aodh or Aed) :-p

For a much longer twoish syllable name beginning with 'A' and ending with a vowel sound: Ainsley...Vivian Ainsley Nicholas is a lot of letters, but not too long to say....
