i'm familiar with the name Ligia (pron. Li-hee-ah) in Spanish but have only heard it in a song. That's what I assumed this name was when my mom spelled it out for me but i was sadly mistaken.

it's possible but if i just wanted people to call me an abbreviated form of my name, i wouldn't say that the first syllable is silent
