A woman came into work this weekend with her young children: a girl, about 4 or 5, named Lola, and a boy, about 2 years old, named Reese. I only heard them, so I obviously don't know how they were spelled. I like Reese, if it's spelled Rhys. Lola seems pretty common, but sort of unique at the same time. WDYT?

I like the way Rhys is pronounced as opposed to Reese

I say Reese like Reece, more emphasis on the s, while Rhys is more like Reees, more emphasis on the e.

Lola is cute. I like Rhys better than Reese or Reece.

One of my brother's friends just named his kid Ries. When someone (on Facebook) asked him how to pronounce it he said "Ries...like Ries Witherspoon." I'm worried he thinks that's how you're supposed to spell it..

Oh no! I wonder if they'll ever realize that's not how it is supposed to be spelled...

Chances are the kid will probably figure it out for himself before the dad does. He's not the brightest. lol

Lola never seems like a real name to me... Idk, it's nickname-y or something. =/
I prefer Reese; Rhys looks weird.

To me, Reese is the feminine while Rhys is the masculine. While I know that it's not a hard and fast rule, it's definitely my preference.

That reminds me of how my sister knew a kid in elementary school named Zeth. She met him before she ever met a Seth so for the longest time she thought Zeth was the normal spelling.

The associate at my work just had a daughter named Reese in February. She named her Reese Jennifer. I don't like the combo (I don't think it sounds nice together) and I'm not a fan of Reese. I've only ever heard the name Reece for a boy, other than Reese Witherspoon. She said she and her husband picked Reese because they've heard other little girls with that name and really liked it. I guess it's gaining in popularity?
