I was just watching TV and came across a boy named Bjorn, pronounced 'buh - shaun'. I've never heard it pronounced like this before.

Thoughts? Is it a common pronunciation? I don't mind it, although I prefer the Scandinavian 'byorn'. I think my only problem with it is that I'm so used to pronouncing Bjorn the 'usual' way, it takes me a moment to figure it out!

Great, you made me use up my curse word for the day... cause I literally asked myself out loud "what... the fuck?" when I read that. I would never pronounce that anything but 'byorn' or something similar to that.

Well I don't see it as a TOTALLY off-the-wall pronunciation actually... If you say it more like "buh-jorn" the "sh" sound kind of comes out when you say it quickly, though that would still be closer to "buh-shorn".

I'd still say it "byorn" but yeah. Not the worst butchering ever.

Yeah, it was close to a soft 'j' sound. I don't think it's horrible, but I'm so used to pronouncing it 'byorn' that it does seem a little odd.
