The other day I heard the name "Peregrine", as in the falcon. WDYT? What, if any, nicknames can you think of?

It reminds me of Peregrin Took from The Lord of the Rings. His nickname was Pippin or Pip. :) I knew a girl named Peregrine but she didn't have a nickname.

Well, it's a legit name. I kinda like it, but I find the Hobbit connection unfortunate.

Peg for short, if necessary. I quite like it.

I...don't like it.
Perry. It makes makes me think of Perry the Platypus (from Disney's "Phineas and Ferb"), though.

Perry seems to be the obvious choice.

Sorry, I can't imagine naming my child after a bird of prey.

My husband's middle name is Peregrine (he likes it better than his first, but goes by his first), and he would LOVE to name a son Peregrine.

The nns that come to mind are Perry (eh), Reggie (UGH), and Pippin (eh).

I do like that it's close to the Italian (peregrino) for "pilgrim."

Peregrine is certainly eccentric, but not terrible. It has a certain weird charm. Did you hear it on a boy or a girl? I would assume boy but it might work on a girl, too. Perry of course is the obvious nickname; as a Lord of the Rings fan, I would be sorely tempted to use Pip/Pippin!
