One of my best friends went to high school with her and has always pronounced it CLEH-ah. Not QUITE an "ay" sound — more like the Spanish "e" if that helps.

When I say it outloud it sounds to me like Claire but with some sort of strong accent. I like how it looks, but for this reason, I can't get on board with it, nope.
