I was guessing they'd named her (him?) after the Mr Mister song "Kyrie," (lyrics here) (http://mrmister.lyrics-online.net/Kyrie.html). (Seems more likely than that they excerpted a line from a prayer.)

The thing is, that song (apparently) hit the Billboard #1 back in 1986. If the individual in question is 18, that means the parents, after hearing the song, sat on the name choice for a couple of years. Without bothering to look up the actual spelling.

Kind of impressive, in a sad sort of way.

my brother's middle name is brewer because it's my mom's maiden name. the OP *did* say some of them were middle names, so that may be the reason for that one. or they are a milwaukee brewers fan (and sick minded to name their kid after a sports team).

Brissetty sounds like food. Like a combination between some kind of cheese and those little bread things... I have no idea how to spell the word it makes me think of, and when I tried to google it I was so far off google didn't make a suggestion. Oh wait, here it is: bruschetta. Yeah, like a mix of bruschetta and a weird cheese.

actually, it's greek. when they do the mass entirely in latin, the kyrie is the only part not in latin. and it's a prayer, usually sung but still said when there is no singing.

it's not latin at all. they just plain use the greek for that prayer in the latin mass.

latin wold be like dominus miserare or something (ok, I know I butchered the endings on those, but I'm just pulling the roots from other parts of the mass. dominus vobiscum = the Lord be with you. miserare nobis = have mercy on us.)

I get that it's not written in the greek alphabet, but a lot of people use this alphabet so I still fail to see how that makes it *latin*. at any rate, it's pronounced the same either way, and it's said or sung in the mass, not printed on an overhead projector.
